I would like to tell you all that Pat and I received an email today  from a Navajo cowboy whom we haven't seen since 1995! We are excited beyond belief! He is coming to TEXAS April 2-4th.He has been the National Champion Bullrider many, many times. Pat photographed him a lot. She has photographs from Crow Agency, Montana to give to him. It was our "Navajo Family Reunion" photograph that she took every year of all of us.

She  will go see him. She is beyond happy. She needed this really bad right now..I'm going to be riding shotgun. Even though she can't see me, she can feel me.........Tip (and Pat)

I've had trouble getting a post up here so I've pretty much given up. But I want you all to know this, if possible. It is great news and I've already forwarded the long article to my representatives here in Texas.

I want to share with you what New Jersey is doing about dog fighting. Dog fighting is illegal in NJ but they are going to extra mile now.

The leaders of New Jersey dog-fighting rings could be charged under the same anti-racketeering laws used to prosecute mobsters under a bill proposed by two state senators.

If prosecuted under the state's anti-racketeering (RICO) statute, organizers of dog-fighting networks could face tough new penalties - up to 20 years in prison - in cases where violence or guns were involved. The state also could seize profits or property gained from dog fighting, a penalty that animal-rights groups see as an important deterrent.

"You can judge a society by the way it treats its most vulnerable," said Sen. Jeff Van Drew (D., Cape May), a sponsor of the bill. "Those that abuse animals in this way, in this severe way, are often individuals that go on to commit heinous acts against adults and children."

Van Drew and Thomas Kean Jr. (R., Union), another sponsor of the legislation, also have proposed a bill that would let judges issue restraining orders to protect pets in domestic disputes.

It would be great if other states follow NJ's standards. If you want the entire article leave your email on Fayeroe's page and I'll be more than happy to send it to you.

Thanks, Pat, Fayeroe, Tippy and Butch (my neighbor dog who suffered greatly in a fight)

Caren ... Thank You for your posting below in the "Forum Section" regarding the Pitbulls.  I whole-heartedly agree with you in every single word you write.

More individuals need to know that the Pitbull is one the most loyal, loving and caring animal.  It is the "people" who train them to be vicious and/or fighters .. it is not the Breed .... Thank You again for your kind words on the Breed that I ... sooooooo LOVE.

Charles, Cupcake and Xander

NATURE'S WONDERS

Have you ever wondered what makes the wind blow?
Could it be our loved ones blowing us a kiss?

Have you ever wondered what makes the stars shine?
Is it our loved ones keeping watch over us while we sleep?

Have you ever wondered what makes the skies cry?
Could it be our loved ones missing us?

Have you ever wondered what makes the sun shine?
Is it our loved ones giving us a warm hug?

Have you ever wondered what makes the ocean waves come pounding to shore?
Could it be our loved ones wanting to touch us once more?

There are so many of natures wonders and do we really know why?
Is there a higher power making sure we always remember the loved one we’ve lost and shall never forget.

A Dog's Prayer for His Owner

O Lord of humans, make my master faithful to his fellow men as I am to him.
Grant that he may be as devoted to his friends and family as I am to him.
May he be open faced and undeceptive as I am;
may he be true to trust reposed in him as I am to his.
Give him a face cheerful like unto my wagging tail.
Give him a spirit of gratitude like unto my flicking tongue.
Fill him with patience like unto mine that awaits
 his footsteps uncomplainingly for hours.
Fill him with my watchfulness, my courage,
and my readiness to sacrifice comfort or life itself.
Keep him always young in heart and endowed with the spirit of play, as I am.
Make him as good a man as I am a dog. And make him worthy of me, his dog.
Amen.

Oh my goodness! I just went to visit my sweet little friend, Snuffy, only to find that her memorial had been sponsored. I had planned on making her her own page on Dollie's tribute soon but I wanted to see her pretty little face on her own site before it expired today and went away. To whoever did this for her, and me, we sincerely thank you. I just know that Snuffy does, too. She was one of those sweet, shy and quiet types that only wanted a little attention and a few loving, kind words. I gave it to her in her lifetime. And now, someone has supplied it to her forever. To whoever caused this little girl's legacy to live on, and caused tears of gratitude and thankfulness to me, her good friend, we say thank you. Thank you from the depths of our heart's. Sincerely, richard and Snuffy.

I have read alot of the story's about the pitt bulls. If any of you has watched the Dog Whisperer, cesar Millan's show he will show and tell you any dog can be re-trained-even the one's that have been abused. He use's a couple of pitt bulls in his pack mixed with other dogs, and they all get along-his main dog that he takes out for training other dog's is a pitt bull. It just goes to show you people that have something against them should not hold it against the dogs but the owners. They all should be given a chance. I took one in when i was 18 and it had scars and would lay down if i lifted my hand in talking, so i just tried to be gentle with her and i think she had a much better home when we took her in. I have meet some at the hospital that come right up to my bull dog and want to play-so friendly-it is people that make the dog, it is not the dogs fault. I just wanted to say that with all the pittbull talk going on.

In Time of Sorrow...
May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
when the shadows fall—
You do not walk alone

Goodbye my sweet Sonny I love you and miss you so terribly.  Why did it have to end this way.  Daisy is looking for you and I don't know how she will cope with the loss of her brother.  I know it was for the best but I hate the thought of your last hours on earth had to be spent the way they were.  I don't know what happened yesterday morning but I hope you didn't suffer to much pain.  I will never forget you and hope that Shei-kai was waiting for you and the 2 of are having a good time and playing until your Mommy and Daddy can join you.  I hope you will wait for me and your 2 sisters, Daisy and Zena when the time comes.

I love you so very much and pray God is watching over you.

I am very sorry for all of the new losses.  Know in your heart that your fur babies are whole & healthy once again.  Hold your memories close to your heart until it's time for you to meet with them again & cross the rainbow bridge together.

I would like to let everyone know that the sentencing date has been postponed until April 2nd.

I want to thank everyone for your continued support.  It's almost over.

xoxo...karley

Sung to the tune of 'The Times They Are A'Changing' by Bob Dylan)

We're fighting to set all the animals free,
To release them from bondage and man's tyranny
And we'll never give up 'til each one of them's free
For their pain is our pain and it's hurting;
And the truth must be told
By the fearless and bold
For the times they are a'changing.

There's no-one to save them except you and me,
And we'll never give up on them 'til they are free.
If it takes us a lifetime that's how it must be,
And truth will win out in the end;
For justice and right
Surely overcome might
And the times they are a'changing.

And when you're downhearted and filled with despair
Don't give up the fight for you've comrades out there,
And together we'll banish oppression and fear,
And the world will be happy and free;
And our hearts will be filled
For no more will be killed
Oh, the times they are a'changing.

So dare to have courage and dare to be strong,
And dare to tell others that murder is wrong,
And give all that you have and give all that you can,
And success will be ours in the dawning;
And sorrow and pain
Will never more reign
For the times they are a'changing.

Each day of your lifetime where 'ere you may be,
Be a voice for the animals 'til they are free.
Enlighten the ignorant, make the blind see,
And this slavery surely will end;
And with banners unfurled
Let us shout to the world,
Oh, the times they are a'changing.

I'll lend you for a little while
My grandest dog he said.
For you to love while he's alive
And mourn for when he's gone.
It may be one or twenty years,
Or days or months, you see.
But, will you, till I take him back
Take care of him for me?
He'll bring charms to gladden you,
And should his stay be brief
You'll have treasured memories
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But, there are lessons taught on earth
I want this dog to learn.
I've looked the wide world over
In my search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes
With trust I have selected you.
Now will you give him your total love?
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come
To take him back again?
I know you'll give him tenderness
And love will bloom each day.
And for the happiness you've known
Forever grateful stay.
But should I come and call for him
Much sooner than you'd planned
You'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And someday you'll understand.

Critters Family ..... I totally agree with every single word that Skye posted below.  I have been in contact with the Greenville SC Humane Society and, even after these babies were dropped off ... they even got more PBs dropped off on their door step in a box with a loaf of breed.  How could the "human race" be so cruel ... BUT ... frankly, I guess we have to be thankful that they were not euthanized .. and ALL have been adopted or taken to PB Rescue Shelters.

Needless to say ... "THIS PB LOVER IS SO OVERJOYED WITH HAPPINESS."  I have to thank Richard again for bringing this to my and other's attention .. and we got right on it.

Hugs to all my wonderful Critters Family.....    Charles

Hats off to the Greenville SC Humane Society (animal shelter) who chose to immediately contact the news media when those poor pitbull pups and their parents were dumped on their doorstep (16 pups and 2 parents, I believe), despite being a facility that does not adopt out pitbulls as a rule.  The fact that they had great compassion for these dogs and wanted their plight to be known to public so that these dogs could possibly have a 2nd chance at a new life should be commended -- especially at a time when so many of our shelters (especially in this part of the country) are bursting at the seams and sadly pets are having to be euthanized at alarming rates.  Truth be told, this shelter could have kept this situation quiet and out of the media and simply quietly "handled" the "problem" with euthanasia -- especially considering this is a breed of dog that their facility does not adopt out.  But they didn't.  They immediately contacted the news media and that evening the beautiful faces of those little pups and their parents appeared in the living rooms of anyone who turned on the evening news in that area of SC and the mountains of NC -- (I saw them on my news in NC).  No doubt this media coverage and the shelter's valiant efforts to get these dogs adopted accounted for the long line of people eager to adopt that were waiting outside the shelter the next day.  So, I applaud this shelter and all the shelters who, despite being overworked and overwhelmed, go the extra mile to try and find homes for homeless pets in need.

Denise -- I am sure the shelter was thrilled with your very generous donation! -- especially since the pups are only 3 weeks old and will have to stay in the shelter's care for awhile (unless they find suitable foster care).  They will not be able to go to their new families for a few more weeks, and of course they will need shots, worming, and most shelters require all pets to be spayed and neutered before they are turned over to new families (definitely for the pup's parents!) -- so your donation is a wonderful gift that most shelters would be overjoyed to receive!  I am sure Caliya is very proud!  :)

Here is this house…
I will never know the loneliness I hear in the barks of the
other dogs “out there”.
I can sleep soundly, assured that when I wake my world
will not have changed.
I will never know hunger, or the fear of not knowing if I’ll
eat.
I will not shiver in the cold, or grow weary from the heat.
I will feel the sun’s heat, and the rain’s coolness, and be
allowed to smell all that can reach my nose.
My fur will shine, and never be dirty or matted.

Here in this house…
there will be an effort to communicate with me on my
level.
I will be talked to and even if I don’t understand, I can
enjoy the warmth of words.
I will be given a name so that I may know who I am among
the many.
My name will be used in joy, and I will love the sound of it!

Here in this house…
I will never be a substitute for anything I am not.
I will never be used to improve people’s images of themselves.
I will be loved because of who I am, not someone’s idea of
who I should be.
I will never suffer for someone’s anger, impatience, or stupidity.
I will be taught all the things I need to know to be loved by all.
If I do not learn my lessons well, I will be shown patience.

Here in this house…
I can trust the arms that hold and hands that touch…
knowing that, no matter what they do, they do it for the good of me.
If I am ill, I will be doctored.
If I am scared I will be comforted.
If I am sad I will be cheered.
No matter what I look like,
I will be considered beautiful and known to be of value.
I will never be cast out because I am too old, too ill, or too unruly,
or not cute enough.
My life is a responsibility and not an afterthought.
I will learn that my humans can almost, sometimes be as
kind and as fair as dogs.

Deb sent this to me and i just loved it, i'm sure you have read it before, but it's worth reading, again and again, love to all

Natalie

Here in this house…
I will belong.
I will be home.
