THANK YOU TO THE MANY THOUGHTFUL PEOPLE WHO WROTE IN "CLOUD'S" GUESTBOOK.  I STARTED TO SEE SOME NAMES I DIDN'T "RECOGNIZE" AND THEN I REALIZED THAT THEY WERE OTHER KIND  PET OWNERS ON THE SITE WHO HAD ALREADY EXPERIENCED THEIR OWN LOSS.  I WAS DEEPLY TOUCHED BY THAT.  "CLOUD" JUST CROSSED OVER "RAINBOW BRIDGE" YESTERDAY AND I WAS TRYING TO FIND A MEMORIAL FOR HIM AND DISCOVERED THIS SITE ACCIDENTALLY.  WHAT A WONDERFUL THING TO HAVE.  TO THE SPECIAL "STRANGERS" WHO OPENED THEIR HEARTS, THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS TO SOMEONE YOU DIDN'T KNOW.  IT'S A DIFFICULT TIME FOR EVERYONE, BUT THOUGHTS AND WORDS FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN THROUGH IT HELPS SO MUCH

Dearest Critters Family ... well ... yesterday (Saturday) I took Cupcake to the yearly "Pitbull Rumble" which was started last year in her honor after being rescued by "Almost Home New Mexico" and then I was "the chosen" one to adopt her.

The Pitbull Rumble was a success and Cupcake was in her glories with all the attention for many, many people who remembered her from the television news regarding her abuse.  Pictures were taken of her with various individuals and the Valencia County Humane Society (where Cupcake was dumped after her bad ear cropping) remembered "that baby girl named Cupcake" as t hey mentioned in their announcements.

All in all ... Cupcake was the "STAR" the entire time.   NOW FOR THE GREAT NEWS ...

Before we headed to the Pitbull Rumble, I took Cupcake to "Almost Home New Mexico" (organization run by Janelle Chavez who rescued Cupcake), and Cupcake got to meet her new baby brother Xander.  Xander and Cupcake got along really well....though Xander kept smelling his sister and Cupcake didn't like it ... but they did get along well.  They ran and played together ... but I think big sister Cupcake just wanted to get away from her little brother Xander.

Well ... Xander will be coming home FOR SURE this coming Thursday, October 8th .. to his loving and forever home where he will be showered with lots of love, attention and affection by not only his daddy .. but his beautiful big sister Cupcake.

As always, I want to Thank each and every one of you for your love, support and kindness ... I could not have survived without it.  Knowing that Sammy, Gabby and Bob M will always be in my heart and the love they each gave to me ... I will continue to fight, until I cannot, for the Pitbull Breed and their rights.!.!.

Hugs to all ........ Charles & Cupcake and soon .. Xander

10-01-2009 7:44 PM -- By: Linda,    Pet's name:   Mo and Ceese
Wow--I hadn't visited Ceese's page for a very long time.  Mo has finally reached the place where he is suffering.  I was forced to make the dreaded call today.  The vet is coming to my house tomorrow at 4:30.  I was amazed when I realized today that I lost Ceese over two years ago and back then everyone was certain (including the vet) that I would lose Mo first.  He's had an incredible will to live and is such a trooper.  I'm trying to find comfort in knowing that he came close to reaching 20 yrs old and I got to have him around far longer than anyone imagined.  Tomorrow will be horrible, but he deserves better than this.  He will be so missed.

Dearest Critters Family ... I am back home now .. and have some special news to report.  While away attending my conference, one evening I visited "Almost Home New Mexico" .. the rescue where my baby girl Cupcake came from .. and I met a baby boy (3-4 months) Pitbull named Xander.  Janelle Chavez, founder of Almost Home New Mexico rescued him.  He is a starvation case and his previous owner didn't want to claim him .. so Janelle rescued him from euthanasia.

Xander has kennel cough so he's on antibotics but getting better each day.  I will bring him home in about a week so that he can now have his "forever" home and will get all the love and affection and attention from me and Cupcake.  Cupcake, I believe, needs a playmate.

I thought I would share this special news.  I am excited to bring this beautiful little Pitbull boy named Xander into my and Cupcake's life.

Charles & Cupcake

My Bailey and Gretchen were always having dry skin and itching when they were younger and we tried different shampoos and they gave us different medicines but we finally solved it by trying different foods and avoided foods with wheat and grains. We had no more trouble after that and they were very happy puppies.

Tomorrow, I must take my rottie, Shyanne, to the vet for what looks like a really bad rash or skin infection.  We were to participate in our local Humane Society's Walk for Animals tomorrow, but I wanted to take care of this as soon as I could.  When I came home from work last night, I saw that Shyanne had literally licked and chewed her fur away from her hip.  Her skin is now so red and irritated!  Do all dogs go through phases of getting "hot spots" or should I be worried it is a more serious problem?

09-24-2009 8:22 AM -- By: Charles,    Critters.com memorial:   Sammy Memorial

Dear Critters Family ... I am away from home attending a conference .. so my internet time is very limited and at times non-existent.  Please know that .. although I may not be visiting your furbabies in the last few days ... know that you and they are always in my thoughts.

I will return home late Friday night .. as I have been away since Tuesday night .. and I will resume visiting over the coming weekend.!.

Hugs to all .....

09-19-2009 8:49 PM -- By: a friend,    Pet's name:
I stood by your bed last night... I came to have a peep. I could see that you'd been crying, And you found it hard to sleep

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me. I haven't left you. I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast... I watched you pour your tea. You were thinking of the many times Your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at my grave today... You tend to it with such care. I want to reassure you That I'm not lying there.

I walked you towards the house As you fumbled for the key. I gently put my paw on you... I smiled and said, "its me."

You looked so very tired As you sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know That I was sitting there.

It's wonderful for me to be So near you everyday, To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, Then smiled... I think you knew That in the stillness of the evening I was very close to you.

And when the time is right for you To cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to meet you And we'll stand there side by side.

I have so many things to show you! There's so much for you to see.

Be patient, live your journey out, Then come home to be with me.

Hello everyone, I'd like to thank everyone who visits Cochise's page and leaves such kind words and sends prayers. Each are appreciated. I regrettably have to ask for prayers for my brother and his family who just came home to find their sweet dog Jewels had been hit by a car and had to have her put to sleep. Today is a difficult day for his family and if anyone has time, please say a quick prayer for them all. Cochise's passing has been a day to day struggle, as you all know through your own experiences, and becoming a part of this Critters family has helped a lot. Thank you all, everyday I appreciate you and this group.

Thank you again to everyone that has left me such kind messages. It has helped a lot reading your notes. Things are still hard without her. I'm doing a lot to keep busy and we even got 2 puppies. The puppies have helped me through this grieving process. It was very difficult at first, but each day gets a tad bit easier with them. I miss Roo more than anything though... I hope she's having fun with your pups at the Rainbow Bridge. Thank you all again and I hope everyone else is doing well with their loss's.

I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words over the past few days as I continue to deal with the loss of my friend, Anthony.  Since his family has decided not to claim him, there will be no funeral.  However, the coroner was nice enough to let me know where he is buried, so I will be able to visit Anthony from time to time.  In dealing with his affairs, I have encountered so many "un-feeling" people.  I really don't understand what is happening to this world.  The only person who had any compassion for the situation was the coroner!  Everyone else is acting like Anthony's death is such an inconvenience to them and can't wait to get rid of me!  I think I am the only person grieving for this man, it is so crazy!

Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!  My wonderful critters family, what would I ever do without you all?  I am hugging everyone through the computer right now!

Stacy

I am heartbroken. A friend of mine died last night. I can't make any sense out of it. He choked on food that both he and the nursing home knew he wasn't supposed to eat. He called me on Friday, begging me to come get him and I told him he was safer there than "basically" living on the streets. RIP Anthony--I will love and miss you forever!

I have asked my Minnie to watch over all of my loved ones, both furry and human, and to PLEASE keep them safe. It is on days like this that I can truly feel how short and precious life really is!

Thought I would share this with every  one  that we did not leave it for..........

When a dog offers you his heart
Accept it with a smile
For his love will last a lifetime -
Which is such a little while.

When a dog offers you his heart
Take it gladly and with pride
For he will be a faithful friend
Ever by your side.

A dog loves you because you're you -
Not for how you speak or what job you do
You could be short, tall, thin or fat
Or ugly as sin, he doesn't care about that.

A dog knows if you're good or bad
He can see inside your soul
When he decides you're okay
To earn your love is his main goal.

When you're sad, he'll comfort you
And kiss away each tear
You may even wake up in the morning
With a cold nose in your ear.

When eventually the time comes
And the lights in his eyes dim
A new star will shine in Heaven
In remembrance of him.

You'll gaze up at the midnight sky
And you will hear him say -
"I'm so glad you were my human
We'll meet again some day!"

So, if this poem has caused a tear to fall
That's because you love the dog who's giving you his all
Go travel on together, happily paw in glove
He's the only one who'll ever give you unconditional love.

When a dog offers you his heart
Accept it with a smile
For his love will last a lifetime -
Which is such a little while.

I just wanted to share this with my Critters friends. It was one of the first sayings I posted on Maggie Mae's tribute when we said goodbye on August 11th. I've seen it being posted on several tributes in their guestbooks. I wanted to share it with you all. I loved it the moment I read it when I found it in a person's tribute on VM. Hugs!
