12-25-2009 1:16 AM -- By: Carole and "angel" Ebony, From:
Dear Richard and Dollie,
First, I would like to thank both of you from the bottom of my heart for being so much support while I stumbled my way through grief after saying goodbye to all three of my precious angels. It’s hard to grasp sometimes that we’ve spoken almost every day since the third week of July, 2007. I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate your friendship. It’s something so special it can only be felt in the heart.
I’ve envisioned over and over again about how it must have been to see your darling baby at the beginning of her life when she was just a tiny “Dot”...a beautiful healthy puppy. God richly blessed you with an angel you named Dollie Marie Cothran. It was love at first sight. What a blessing to have witnessed the life of your tiny gurl who, in the end, would touch the lives of people all over the world. Dot...such a precious dinky baby that you have respectfully, graciously and eloquently shared with all of us. Thank you! I will pray that you are surrounded with peace and comfort this Christmas and your upcoming birthday on December 30th. I can only imagine the heartbreak you go through with your birthday on the heels of the holiday.
I told you a couple weeks ago that I would write a little Christmas story for you and Dollie. It may turn out to be a bit lengthy ‘cause I’m ‘gonna “let it go.” This will come from deep in my heart and I truly hope you enjoy it.
It’s a crisp fall afternoon and you’re strolling along the path that you and Dollie branded as your very own special place. You know the path...that beautiful place in the picture on the main page of her memorial where you stated that her little legs would churn 90 miles a minute to keep up with her daddy's long strides. I can see those dainty little feet turnin’ up the leaves under them! Then you take a jaunt over to Dollie’s “lil wall” in the “eternal garden” where you used to walk every morning. It must have been a joy to see her prep her little six inch tall, 3 ½ pound body, and then watch her leap eighteen giant inches onto the top edge of that stone wall!
Dollie was a dreamer and her dreams all came true. She pictured herself as a pampered pooch, living with a loving daddy who would treat her like a princess. She didn’t know in the beginning where her journey would take her, but she knew this was the start of something extra special...it turned out to be more special than she could ever imagine. She knew in her precious little heart that you would make her the happiest little gurl in the whole wide world, and give her the life she dreamed about. And, that my friend, you did. She arrived at her new home and all the days that followed she would wake up and blink her eyes several times, to make sure she wasn’t dreaming, and to her delight she dreamed right into a lifetime with you. As she grew up into a big “Dot” she was in awe at all the “fun things” she got to do with her daddy. Life was an adventure, new toys...new places...new faces...more and more new places...more and more “fun things”...what a life! She delighted in the simple joy of all those walks...strolling through gardens, under the trees with gentle breezes blowing gently in her beautiful little face. What precious “favorite moments” she had in the front seat of her “big ‘ol truck”, perched on her daddy’s lap!
People would fuss over your princess wherever you went. Oh, and she loved that pretty pink bow you’d put in her hair. She was a pretty...happy gurl and had the best dad a daughter could ever dream of. Dot always held her little wagging tail high ’specially for you. She loved it when you picked her up and hugged her. She loved her belly kisses and she laughed when she watched her big strong dad turn into mush when he was around her.
...so many fun times. A lifetime of dreams packed into nearly 13 blessed years. Time goes so fast when you’re having fun. Sadly, June 22 2007 (917 days ago today) arrived in a flash...much too quickly. There was so much yet to do!
Your baby whispers to you through the breeze, “I am calm, healthy and at peace dad. Every once in a while you’ll see that bright star shining in the sky...our star. See dad, we did go down in history just like you said we would. My most "favorite place" in the whole wide world was when I was in your loving arms. I had a wonderful time and I love you. I am confident that one day I will be in my "favorite place" again.”
Now, come along in your dreams and travel my journey with me daddy. What I do and where I go, you ’gotta see. Every day is a new adventure; filled with so many “fun things.” Every day is filled with memories of us...the way things used to be. I’ll dream our dream all over again...and again and again...the same dream I had when I was a baby gurl. The life we shared overflowed with endless magical moments. Yes dad, my dreams really DID come true. (I never would have made it through, if there hadn’t been you. All of this I would have missed, if there hadn’t been you. All my dreams would still be dreams, if there hadn’t been you.) Don’t forget pa...I’ll be home for Christmas.
G’night daddy...I’ll be seein’ you in “our” dreams.

sugar, i can
honestly say that
during our journey
a christmas apart
never, ever crossed
my mind. and
now, in the blink
of an eye, it's been
three. it's no easier
now than the first
one. no, not one
bit. i put the
"new" picture of
you on your
what i wouldn't
give to gently tug
on those pretty
little ears and hear
growl of yours in
disapproval. i love
you more than
words dollie. and
as long as i'm
blessed with the
ability to do so, you
best believe the
sun won't set on a
day that i fail to
make, and take, the
time to visit and
tell you so. dollie,
with a heart that's
in two, i wish you a
morning breaks for
you, may your little
heart pump a little
faster when you
discover all the
love that daddy's
placed under your
tree and embedded
into your heart.

you forever and
ever and a day.

Merry Chrirtmas Daddy.......Just a Breath Away
Look for me in springtime As raindrops fill the airIn the splendor of the rainbowYou’ll find my presence there. You will find me in the fragranceOf April’s sweet perfumeDrifting through the cloverOn a sultry day in June.An August day will find meUpon the summer breezeOn the distant sound of the thunderIn the gently swaying trees. In the golden fields of harvestIs where I can be found. As autumn time approachesAnd leaves comes tumbling downIn the wintertime when days are shortAnd chill is in the airJust look into a moonlit nightYou’ll find me lingering there. When the setting sun has gone awayAnd shadows fill the nightWhen the cloak of darkness lifts its veilI’ll be your morning light. So when you feel discouragedGet on your knees and prayYou’ll feel me there beside youI’m just a breath away

Misty Christmas Memories
"Gentle snowflakes touch my face,
As a tear trails down my cheek
Among crowds and glistening tinsel
Your face, I once more seek.
Another year has come to pass
With not once glimpse of you
Except in dreams, you visit me
In shades of hazy blue.
Christmas time will soon be here
I long to see your face
Just once again, to see your smile
And dream of your embrace.
Christmas time is boxed up
In tones of purple hue
It's wrapped in misty memories
And laced with thoughts of you."

The Christmas Angels....
Hush now, can you hear the Angels singing?
High up in the frosty midnight air?
Voices ringing, singing, songs of Christmas,
Happiness for all the world to share.
As we count the days.....
filling all our homes with light and love,
Angels share these special times of gladness,
Celebrating with us from high above.
As the snowflakes float like stars from heaven,
Angels touch them softly, one by one,
Giving each one a gentle Angels kiss,
Snowflakes sent with love for everyone.
When we gather ‘round to sing sweet songs,
Each of us with heavy hearts,
In the sky, the Angels all sing with us,
As on the first Christmas long ago.
By our sides, our caring guardian Angels,
Look out for us each and every day.
So, however far from home we travel,
Loving Angels help us on our way.
When we help and care for one another,
High above the angels see it too.
Little acts of kindess,
makes all our Angels smile.
As dusk falls, our Angles fly above us,
Lighting all the stars up in the sky.
When you see a silver star shine brightly,
Then you know our Angels are nearby.
Angles sing their songs of love and friendship,
Songs about our happy times and the
Love and warmth that loving friendships bring.
As the daylight fades to gentle shadow,
Soft moonbeams shimmer, silver-white,
Tender Angels watch us while we sleep,
Keeping us safe through the moonlit night.
Hush now, can you hear our Angels singing?
The Sweetest songs of peace and love
From heaven up above.
Christmas songs of hope and joy and wonder..
Filling all our hearts with love…

MERRY CHRISTMAS DOLLIE. HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION WITH ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES. Kisses and hugs to you.
12-24-2009 3:59 AM -- By: Dollie, From: Rainbow Bridge
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all over Rainbow Bridge
Not a critter was stirring, not even Hammy Sagar
The stockings were hung in the meadow with care,
In hopes that Saint Nicholas soon would be there.
The critters were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of rawhides danced in their heads.
And Heidi in her kerchief and me - Rameses in my cap
Had just settled down for a long, long, long night's nap
When out in the fields there arose such a clatter,
Puck sprang from his Condo bed, and so did Rocky and Dollie, to see what was the matter.
Away to the window Caliya flew like a flash, with Rosie, Bob M, and Sammie close behind
They each tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave a luster of midday to objects below.
When, what to Fayeroe and Max (PA)’s wondering eyes should appear
But a big huge red sleigh and eight oddly shaped reincritters,
With a little old driver so lively and quick,
Maddie knew in a moment it must be Saint Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled and shouted and called them by name:
"Now, Wallace! Now, Windsor! Now, Dale and Bonnie Kraft!
On, Sammy! On, Gabby! On Bailey and Gretchen!
To the top of all the condos and beach houses, to the top of the wall!
Now, dash away! Dash away! Dash away, all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the housetop the coursers they flew,
With a sleigh full of toys and Saint Nicholas too.
And then in a twinkling Kia and Max (Canada) heard on the roof,
The prancing and pawing of each big and little paw.
As Luke drew in his head and was turning around,
Down the chimney Saint Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes - how they twinkled! His dimples - how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard on his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed like a bowl full of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And Max (MI) laughed and so did Cassie, when poor little Luna almost fainted.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave Baci and Misty Rose to know they had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But Tippy, Saada and Duke all heard him exclaim ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!"
The Critters all stood there with smiles aglow, as each one nodded from one to other. “We all Love You Mommy and Daddy”, “Please Don’t be sad any more”, “Please now Be Happy”.
