Thank you so much Charles for your very kind words about Biscuit. I do so hope that Biscuit is in a beautiful place with lots of friends to be with. We miss him very much and he will always be in our hearts forever. I hope Biscuit has met up with Sammy, Gabby and Bob M at the Rainbow Bridge. Thank you again, all good wishes, Christine.

Thank you for the nice thots you left on Betsy's memorial...I can hardly type because of the tears in my eyes after reading the "story of Sammy"...what a great friend...I know how hard it is to choose to put your dog to sleep....you keep thinking maybe "one more day"...I believe there is special place for our animals in heaven....otherwise it wouldn't hurt some much to loose them....God BLess you as you travel life w/out Sammy...take comfort in knowing there are many others who know how you feel.....Christine (Bestys' Mom)

Good morning Charles, handsome Sammy, Gabby and little Bob m.

Stopping by with fresh coffee to help get our day going. I hope they have the fires somewhat under control where you are. Have you gotten any rain yet? We are still under flood watch BUT the water levels are going down and I am able to use the highway to the shelter again.Although the water is write up to the level of the highway, they have opened it up again. I hope the water level keeps going down. It has not rained here for a couple of days which should help the water get away.  We will stay ready to evacuate should the need arise but I am hoping we don't have to do that as I know that would upset the furkids. It looks like another beautiful day here today so the furkids will be enjoying their day outside. It soon will be forest fire time here also, which normally start around the middle of June but hopefully with all the water around this year, they will not start up.

Hello Cupcake and Xander.

I am off to classes . My final test is on the 27th.

Have a grand day! Sending hugs all around.

Lauvern and all at the shelter.

Hi again Charles. Thankyou for the compliment on Luke's Birthday Page. I heard the Birthday song all day yesterday at the shelter as we played it all through the bbq. We all had a great time as we celebrated Luke's Special Birthday at his shelter. Lawrence was the chief cook. Ha-Ha-Ha. We had about 90--100 people there in total. They consisted of all of the regular volunteers, high school kids "volunteers" as well as family and friends. Of course all the fur kids were included also. It was a beautiful warm sunny day, just as Luke had ordered I am sure our fur kids all had a grand time at Rainbow Bridge also.

Thank you for the coffee this morning as it certainly is needed today. I took the day off from classes yesterday so now I have twice as much homework but I can do it. "Everything for Luke"

Sending hugs all around

Lauvern and all at the shelter.

Charles thank you for thinking of Bailey and me on his Angel Day. I so cherish all the friends like you I have here and am so glad we have met even though it was through sadness. I know they play together now and are waiting for us some day. I see you are having trouble with fires. I hope everything is OK for you as I know our babies watch over us and you and those you know are safe. Like Lauvern it started raining yesterday here and it is supposed to rain all next week. I at least am in an area that does not flood but some houses at the one end of our street always get flooded out.

05-13-2011 8:21 AM -- By: Lauvern,  From:

Good Morning Charles, Sammy, Gabby,Bob M and sweet Cupcake and Xander.

Stopping by with Granny's usual Friday treat "cinnamon rolls" and fresh coffee. I hope all is well with you and that Xander has decided to quit digging  out but I know "boys will be boys".haha.

Things are not looking too good here as the road I normally take to the shelter is under water now and closed. I have two other roads to take although they are out of the way and not the best of roads ,i can still get there and back "for now anyway".It is raining here again today so not sure what we will do but I may move all the shelter kids out of there. I don't think the property will flood but if the two other roads do,we will not have a way of getting in or out of there and Doris would be isolated. We can't have that. I will let you know what we decide. I wish there was a way ,I could send you some of the water we have around to put out them fires. haha.

Take care and have a good day.

Sending hugs all around.

Lauvern and all at the shelter.

Hi Charles, Handsome Sammy, Gabby, Bob M, Xander and Cupcake. Thankyou for stoping by with coffee as it has certainly been needed around here lately. With the ending of my classes just around the corner,it seems as all i have been doing is studying. I will certainly need a break when classes are over.

I am happy to hear Xander is doing well and has his stitches out. I am sure he is happy not to be crated  and is  able to run free with Cupcake. I hope they can get them fires under control soon as the smoke around must be just sometrhing. We will have to send you some of the rain we have been getting for the past two days. We certainly don't need any more rain as there is flooding all around. North Dakota is certainly getting their share of floods also.

Anyway have a great afternoon and stay safe from all them fires in your area.

Sending hugs all around.

Lauvern and all at the shelter.

Morning Charles, Sammy, Gabby, Bob M, Xander & Cupcake,

I was hearing about the fires in NM and am hoping your home has not been at risk. When we lived in California we were almost evacuated one time and we had horses as well as dogs and cats.  Please take care.

I also wanted to see how Xander is doing and hope he is healing well so he will not need to stay in the crate much longer. A friend with a young (2 year old) dog has to have an ACL repair surgery next week. They have a sibling to this dog who will make it tough for them to keep the surgical patient quiet. Hope Cupcake is not tempting Xander to do more than he should before he is healed.

I just saw more news about the situation of the pets of evacuees in Japan and it is so sad. I like to think we (our government) would be more enlightened in dealings with furkids here but who can say. I know I would not leave mine no matter what. You and your family are often in my thoughts.Be well and keep safe.

Hi Charles... Just sent you a lengthy post, but it went to review --- Sorry.  It probably will show up in a couple of days.  Thanks for stopping by!

05-11-2011 12:37 AM -- By: Skye,  From:

Hi Charles....
I'm so sorry to hear of Xander's injury!  I am so glad to hear that he has healed up well.  I know how panicky it can be when a pet gets hurt or sick "after hours" and one must find an emergency animal hospital to take them to, knowing that the staff there do not know your pet or your pet's medical history at all.  Hopefully you had an emergency vet facility nearby.  Where I live, there is only one emergency (after hours) animal hospital/vet for the entire mountain region.  It is about an hour away from my home, and I have heard from others that the facility is extremely expensive and expects all payments upfront -- no payment plans (which is typical of nearly all our vets here).  Someone I know took their sick cat to the emergency animal hospital to have a simple office procedure done after hours and he could not believe the shocking price they charged him after it was done ($1600!).  When he did not have all the money to pay them upfront in full, they refused to return his cat to him and allegedly threatened to euthanize his cat!  Luckily, he was able to round up the money with the help of family and friends and got his cat back.  I was so shocked when I heard that story.  I sure hope that you had a much more positive experience on your end.  The important thing is that Xander is back to his old self now.   :)  I know digging is a difficult behavior to curb.  Our dogs both dig (though mine does not really do it so much), and we have found that providing them with a sand box (with buried toys) to be helpful -- you can train them to just dig in there.  Ours also like to go inside their doggy igloo and dig to China -- especially my parents' Terrier, as she is quite the digger dog.  But... if your dog is digging specifically to try and escape an enclosed area (rather than just because he is a "digger dog"), then that can be even more of a challenge.  Hopefully, your sweet boy has learned his lesson after getting injured.  Furkids sure have a way of keeping us on our toes, huh?   :)

I do hope you get the much-need rain for your area.  We seem to be constantly under the threat of tornados here, with constant warnings and a few tornados touching down nearby a week or so ago.  This sure has been a year for the wacky weather.  Well, I hope you and your kids have a great week.... and I hope that Xander does not get into any further digging mischief.  Hugs to you all and to precious Sammy, Gabby, & Bob too!

It's been a while since I have been here. It was so kind and thoughtful of you to remember the love of my life on her special day. It makes me wonder did Sammy teach Charles to be so nice or did Charles teach Sammy to be so nice. Either way it worked out good. I know for me it was Barbra that made me care and I miss her so much.  Once again "Thank You" for remembering our special day...

Hi Charles and kids. Thankyou for the Mother's Day wishes. We had a grand day today. All went well with the seminar as there are now 4 dogs and 3 cats pending adoption. We had a great day as Doris and Kim surprised me and ordered in dinner for us all from my kids as well as the shelter kids. We all had a great day. Now I am tired out. Ha-Ha.

I am so sorry you are once a gain having problems with the bullies. When will people learn that any dog "ANY BREED" will only try to please there master ,even if requires that they be mean and vicious? I agree it is high time they went after the people who train ANY breed of dog to be aggresive and not the dog.I guess it's alot easier to go after the dog. I certainly hope Cupcake and Xander are safe.

Take care and I know you will be the voice for the Bullies.

Sending Hugs all around

Lauvern and all at Luke's Shelter.

We had a beautiful day here today and suppose to be the same tomorrow. I hope the weather man is right as it surely brings out many more people to the seminars if the weather is suitable.

Take care and have a enjoyable evening with Cupcake and Xander.

Good Morning, Charles and Crew! I think we're going to have good weather today.

I've had one cup of coffee and trying to rouse myself to get ready to go into Austin.

Charles, I read parts of your memorial again. Any dog/cat that ends up with is blessed, just as you are by having them in your life. You are a true friend to the pit bull. I admire you for being so active in the community.

Take care, Pat

Hi, Handsome Sammy and Charles! You've got some good activities planned this weekend. I would love to help if I still lived nearby.

Moving is coming along slowly. We couldn't go work on the house for a solid month due to the bad storms the area was getting slammed with.

It was 91 here yesterday! I haven't been running the Ac very much but I turned it on. The dogs and I were hotter than firecrackers!!!

xoxox to Xander and Cupcake. I'm glad that Xander is getting his stiches out!!

Talk about a pick=me-up yesterday! Thank you for dropping off the goodies. And I bet that there were NO calories, either?

Getting close to M day. When I look at the pounds of pet hair that is here, I wonder if I'll ever get it vacumned up before I leave!!  Before I picked Clem up, the lady told me that she didn't shed. Yeah and there aren't any hippies in New Mexico!!

Today should be a busy one. Sun is out and air feels good. I do miss that crisp New Mexico air, Charles.

xoxoxo Pat, Pearl, Mike, Tim, Lita, Clementine and the Turts

Dear Charles: I heard a quiet scratching at my door today and when I went to see who was there, I found  a page of paper with this song on it. Tippy had scribbled a note to me and asked me if I would do something for Sammy....Sammy wants you to have this today. He loves you and misses you and he knows that he will see you again one day....we'll all be together at The Bridge with our wonderful friends....Take care, Patave I told you lately that I love you?
Have I told you there's no one else above you?

Fill my heart with gladness, take away all my sadness,
Ease my troubles, that's what you do.

For the morning sun in all it's glory,
Meets the day with hope and comfort too,
You fill my life with laughter, somehow you make it better,
Ease my troubles, that's what you do.
