Good Saturday morning Charles , Sammy ,Gabby and little Bob M and of course Cupcake and Xander. Thankyou for joining us and having coffee and cake from Jules  with us yesterday. Thankyou as always for your kind words.I know all here appreciate the kind and encouraging posts from you. For this, I Thankyou you again.

The fires and smoke out your way certainly don't want to let up.Do they? With the little rain you did get , maybe you will soon get a good amount. We will keep good thoughts and continue to keep you in our prayers.

We got a good downpour of rain last night after all the heat and humidity last week and it certainly was welcome as it has cooled things dpwn some for a couple of days anyway. It is suppose to be very hot and humid again starting Monday.

Have a great weekend and I certainly hope the rain that we got last night is headed your way.

Sending hugs all around.

Lauvern and all at Luke's shelter.

Good Evening Charles , Sammy,Gabby and Bob M. Thankyou for the coffee and cookies  and your kind post as always. Much appreciated! I am happy to hear that the smoke has eased some for you. Yes it is very sad about the animals that have lost their lives due to the fires and smoke. So Sad!  We have had another extreme hot day here and yet another one expected tomorrow. I can live with the heat but the humidity is just aweful. Anyway I guess we can't change it so have to deal with whatever we get. Its a good thing we have lots of water around as the sprinklers are going all day for the fur kids. They all love it as that keeps them cool.

Have a good night. We will continue to keep positive thoughts in hopes that you soon get alot of rain so all them fires can be put out.

Sending hugs all around.

Lauvern and all at the shelter.

07-07-2011 5:07 PM -- By: Michelle & Princess,  From:

Dear Charles, Sammy, Bob M and Gabby,

Thank you for stopping in to visit Princess. So few come anymore. It is disheartening as I treasure the friends I made here.

That said, I am happy to know your vacation went well and that Xander and Cupcake were in good hands while you were gone. Even though we have a reliable and good live in sitter come to our house whenever we must be gone, I worry anyway. These are my children and very dear to me.

I have watched with wonder as I see Sammy's image come into focus as Stacy posts updates. I can hardly wait for her to start on Princess.

I hope the fires are not too close to you and am sorry to hear the smoke, ash and fallout is taking a toll on all of you. I ask for help for you everyday and hope it arrives sooner rather than later.

Thank you again Charles for being such a wonderful friend.

Oh Sammy what a beautiful boy you are! Thank you for writing in Oscarella's book today--I lost her 2 years ago and miss her terribly! I enjoyed reading the story of how you found your Mom out on the highway. I can just see you patiently waiting for her to come along, then springing into the seat for the ride to your forever home! You and Mom were together every hour of every day, just like me, Oscarella and our gang. Your Mommy would do anything to have you back again--up all night, all day, anything--she loved you so so much. Sammy, I hope you have met my Oscarella and are looking after her and Dandy and Peanut who are waiting for me at the Bridge. Bless you Sammy you are a good and beautiful boy.

Good Morning Charles and kids. Stopping by with fresh hot coffee to get our day going. We are in for another hot day here , high 90's with the humidity. I can take the 90's but the humidity is not easy. Thank goodness for air conditioning.

I have not had an update on the fires near you yet this morning. I normally get the updates from Lawrence but he is away on vacation. I only get what CNN shows which is not too much . I certainly hope they are starting to ease up.

Have a good day.

Sending hugs all around.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!

Good Morning Charles, Sammy, Gabby, and little Bob. and of course precious Cupcake and Xander. Thankyou for your kind post as always. We are happy to hear that you are getting at least some rain. We had watched clips of the fire on Tv over the weekend. All of them beautiful trees just going up in flame. How Sad! We will continue to keep you all in our thoughts and prayers in hopes that you get lots of much needed rain out you way. It has been extremely hot here yesterday and is suppose to be the same today. The kiddie pools will be filled for the shelter kids and sprinklers will be going all day. The fur kids love that. I have not been letting them  in the pond to swim yet as the water is too high and needs time for all the spring debris to settle and the pond can be cleaned first.  We have put up a temporary fence  to keep them out of there until the water level goes down.

Have a great Fourth of July and I am sure you will be enjoying it with the kids.

Sending hugs all around.

Lauvern and all at Luke's Shelter.

hello charles. before i retire for the night after a hectic but beautiful day,i wanted to thank you for the well wishes for us all today. your thoughtfullness is and has always been appreciated by me . although i don't always leave a messages in guestbooks, i do visit  sammy's pages whenever i come online to visit luke's pages. as you can tell, i have to do my own typing today  which i am no good at and there is no one here to do it for me,as all the young ones have left to go to the city and see the fire works displays. I have no interest in that anymore as i would rather stay home where it is quiet with all the critters including samantha and i have lauvern's kids for the night as they all are afraid of all the boom booms as most critters are. they all had a wonderful day with lots of fun and treats and are all tucked in their beds now. i want to wish you a happy fourth of july and want you to know that we all keep you in our daily prayers and pray for the wild fires in your area to be stopped.i can hardly imagine all that smoke around. it must be just breath taking for sure. please excuse my bad typing skills as i normally get someone else to type for me when i can but there is no one around today. i am in my 70s and its too late to learn.haha. have a wonderful weekend and please stay safe and of course keep the kids safe as i know you do from all of the fires and smoke. keeping you in my prayers and wishing you a happy fourth of july.

granny doris ,samantha and all the shelter kids.xo

Good Morning Charles and kids. Thankyou so much for the kind post  as always and wishes for a grand day tomorrow.I have relayed your message to all here at the shelter. I know they appreciate all of your kindness as I do.Thankyou for recognising my volunteers. I truely appreciate you doing so. As you know, without them, I could not go on doing what I do. Although I am always grateful for all that they do and always tell them so, I know coming from someone else helps them to know how special they are. I had a little boy in grade four who volunteers on weekends say to me a while back{after seeing Luke's posts} "WOW! someone in NM knows that I am helping out at Luke's shelter"."Smile" so your kind posts don't ever go unnoticed.

I see by the news ,the fires and smoke have not given you any relief yet. When will it ever end? Keeping good thoughts and in our prayers in hopes that you soon get the rain you all so badly need.

Sammy.......Find Luke and gather up all the fur kids at Rainbow Bridge and continue to do the NM rain dance. That has got to work!! Keep watching over your Dad and Cupcake and Xander in those wild fires and smoke as I know you always do.

Sending hugs all around.

Lauvern and all at Luke's shelter.

Thanks so much for stopping by on my cat Axl's 2nd Angelversary a couple weeks ago.  His loss still chokes me up!  For 20 years he was truly my furry soulmate, and it sounds like Sammy was yours too.  You must have been together in past lives.  I lost my precious 15-year old brown lab Late' this past January.  She could no longer get up by herself either - I know how hard it is when they reach that point!  I used the towel to hoist her hind end up the stairs every night for a year because she refused to sleep downstairs alone.  When her eyesight started to go we knew it was her time to move on while she still had her dignity.  She had a long and happy life, just like Sammy.  Thanks, and take care!

Charles, my thoughts and prayers are with you ... keep your babies inside!!! Especially when you're not home, you never know if they may get frightened or want to get out ... which would only lead to heart ache ... so please keep them indoors ... and know our angels are watching over you all. ((hugs)) Nadine & her girls

WELCOME HOME CHARLES!

I am so sorry that you had to come back to the fires still burning out of control. From the news that we are able to get,it seems like the fires are worsening as is the smoke. GOOD GRIEF!

I hope that you enjoyed your vacation but I know with no doubt in my mind that you certainly had missed the kids and probably worried about  the smoke situation.

We have all here at Luke's shelter been watching the updates on the fires and smoke and wondering when it will ever end. So sad! We are all keeping positive thoughts and keeping you all in our prayers and hope that you get that much needed rain REAL SOON.

Thankyou for the coffee and danish this morning. It was much appreciated. I have been quite busy with classes which are going great and I have faith that all the fur kids leaving the shelter to go to their forever homes will bring nothing but joy to their new parents. The people wishing to adopt from the shelter have all been accepting my offer of free training classes for them and the fur kid that they wish to adopt before they leave the shelter. I have not had to make taking the classes mandatory before they can adopt as of yet as so far they all seem to appreciate the free  classes

Yes we will be celebrating Canada Day on Friday. We are doing so at the shelter. I have company in from Florida as well as one of Doris's daughters and kids are in from Alberta and will be staying with her for the summer months. We are having a BBQ as well as I have some "clowns" and  pony rides coming in for the Elementary school volunteers. It should be a fun filled day.Of course the fur kids will all be involved, especially in the BBQ area. Ha-Ha.

Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way for much needed rain.Stay safe and I hope these wild fires get under control real soon.

Sending hugs all around.

Lauvern and all at Luke's shelter.
