Hi Charles.... Thanks for stopping by.  I am glad to hear that your wildfire situation is under control and that you can finally breathe fresh air again.  We are doing okay out here, and have had far less wildfires than normal this summer for some reason (so far anyway).  More importantly, we escaped any effect of hurricane Irene, even though others in NC were certainly not as fortunate.  Well, I do hope that you and "the kids" have a wonderful weekend and that you enjoy what is left of the summer.  Can you believe it is almost September already?  We better enjoy the next few months, Charles, because you know before long we'll both be engaging in one of our least favorite chores --- shoveling snow!  Uuugghhhh!   LOL.   Take Care.

Best Wishes to You Always,
Skye

HAPPY FRIDAY CHARLES & FAMILY!

After the busy past few weeks I am looking forward to getting the kids to the beach this weekend. I have been promising this for a long time and I do not like breaking promises. Do not tell me these smart guys do know know what I am saying. We have made the regular forest walks and trips to the park but there is nothing like a beach day! I just hope there are no health warnings. Have a wonderful weekend. Princess and I thank you ever so much for keeping in touch.

Good Morning Charles, precious Sammy, Gabby, Bob M and Cupcake and Xander. Stopping by with fresh hot coffee and Granny's homemade Cinnamon rolls."Our usual treat from Granny on Fridays". When i pulled into the driveway this morning the aroma of cinnamon rolls  baking was very welcomed as I think I forgot to have dinner last night. HaHa. Another long day for me today but I can do it."Smile".

Yes it was certainly nice to hear from Pat as I certainly have missed her. I have to also add, as I wrote to her I was so proud of her for taking in them two Shepherds that someone must have just dumped off. I have a special place in my heart for those that CARE and help these poor unwanted fur kids. There is so many of these poor creatures out there.

I am off to have my coffee and a hot cinnamon roll.

Have a great day and a grand weekend.

Thankyou for your post and kindness always. Sending hugs all around.

Lauvern and all at Luke's shelter.

P/S  Granny says Hello and hopes all is well out your way.

Lita just found a rattlesnake in the LR. I killed it by cutting it's head off. I held it down with a screwdriver. My heart was going 90 miles a second! Lita is the woman!!

Hi Charles, Just visiting the furbabies. I sure miss mine. Ouch! Migraine & back problems today. Hope all is well out west. Nutin much ever going on here. "Flyover country" This town has it's share of crime and gang problems for only having about 490,000 population. Keep in touch both here and on facebook. I don't keep in touch too much with the facebook critters folks except Laura. She was very supportive when Ginger passed. Too bad she deleted Dale's site on here. I'm sure she had good reason though.

Dear Charles!! So good to hear that you're okay....I didn't know about the fires and floods. That makes me sick about the Dixon orchard! It was such a beautiful place. I took lots of pictures of it and the surrounding area.

I haven't had internet or television. The roof leaks and I'm not putting a t.v. up until the ceilings are fixed. I got internet today and have my computer in a "safe" area in the kitchen. It has been interesting living without the "news" and such.

I so love this photo of Sammy. The look he is giving you is so pure and full of love.

I just put a goat bell on Timmee because he caught a rabbit recently. He immediately figured out how to walk without it ringing!! I don't know what I am going to do with him!

Who set the fire near Los Alamos? Wasn't the first big one set by two campers? I can't believe there was a second fire there. The first one made the landscape look like a alien place. It was so ugly. Almost scary.

Must feed the puppies. They eat three times a day and I also have a sick hen to care for. I'm not bored!!

DEAREST Charles!! What a joy to see your message on my guestbook page. We've been very, very busy here. Lita is the champion rat catcher. 9-1/2 so far. The cats had one and it was putting up a strong defense and Lita had to step in to help. So she shares that number with them.

How are you? It has been over 100 for many days here. We've set a record for the states.

My first pit bull should arrive next week!! I am so excited. It is an old "momma" that no one wants. We want her!! Everything she needs is ready and waiting.

Much love to you and yours, xoxox Pat and her farm full of animals!

Hi Charles, handsome Sammy, Gabby, Bob M and precious Cupcake and Xander. Thankyou for the iced tea and cookies this afternoon as it was greatly appreciated. It has been so hot here today, last I heard on radio it was 98 degrees with very high humidity. "yuk"Needless to say, the kiddie pools were filled and sprinklers going all day for the fur kids. I have cancelled my classes for tonight as they were for the larger breed dogs and I have to hold classes outside for them but it was just too hot.I know I couldn't concentrate on what I was doing so couldn't expect them to either. Ha-Ha. It is suppose to cool off some tomorrow and I certainly hope it does.

Have a great evening.

Sending hugs all around.

Lauvern and all at the shelter.

Thank you for your thoughtful words about our JoJo.

I read almost all of Sammy's tribute. What an exceptional relationship you had with him.

Good Early morning Charles,Sammy, Gabby, little Bob m and precious Cupcake and Xander. Just stopping by with fresh hot coffee and to wish you a grand weekend.Thankyou for coffee and gingerbread and your kind post as always.

We got a real good soaking rain yesterday and all last night which was badly needed. Everything is looking lush and green again.

I am flying out to Calgary tonight as it is my Girlfriend's 25th wedding Anniversary tomorrow. Byron will be here helping  granny, Kim and Lawrence at the shelter as well as home with Toby, Tyson and JoJo. He has a few days off as his truck is going in for some repair. He said it will be a treat for him to stay home and help out with the shelter kids as he is always traveling.

September will be a busy month for me as granny and her two daughters will be going on vacation and the high school kids will be going back to school so will only be volunteering in the evenings and weekends. I have cut my classes back some during Sept. so all will work out.

Have a grand weekend and I hope you get some of the rain that we did.

Sending hugs all around .

Lauvern and all at Luke's shelter.

Dear Charles

I don't know really where to begin writing here. I have spent quite a bit of time reading your memorial to Sammy. It really is so unbelievable. I know I could just spend days reading it and then read it over again. I love every page. It's so beautiful, it brings me to tears when I read it. Sammy  is such an amazing and beautiful boy. Your other children as so precious too. Thank you for including the page "Sayings and things". It is so inspirational. Your love for Sammy, Gabby, Bob M, and Cupcake and Xander  just comes through loud and clear in every word you write. Your children are so lucky to have such a wonderful loving Dad. I do also see similarities in our stories and our babies.    We also had to carry Leya outside during her last days with us. It was hard as she was a big girl, about 90 pounds, but the worse part was I felt it was so undignified for her and it broke my heart to see her like that. I know she didn't like to be like that. I couldn't bellieve when you said there was a tear in Sammy's eye as he left you. I also found a tear in Leya's eye. It was so heartbreaking. I've never told anyone that as I thought they would think I was crazy. I've thought about that tear so much.. I hope I will one day get to a place where I can just think of happy times with Leya  instead of crying every day like I do now., even a year later. Reading all the tributes here at Critters gives me hope that day will come.

You have such a great love for the pitbull breed. It's wonderful that you have opened your home and your heart to so many who needed you.  Like pitbulls, dobermans are also often wrongly thought of as being vicious or dangerous. That is so far from the truth as you know. It is humans who make them that way. They are such loving souls all of them and it is so heartbreaking to read how so many are treated. When we first moved into this neighborhood, where everyone walks their dogs, many people were afraid to pass us when we walked Leya. Luckily, all soon came to know and love her and to realize she was just a gentle loving girl. In Ontario, Pitbulls are banned, although so far not Dobermans. It is just so wrong. The only good thing I can see about it is that at least it might prevent any beautiful dogs from being purchased by people who will mistreat them. It's so sad that there are so many in need of a forever home.

Charles, thank you so much again for all your kind wishes and for taking time to think of Leya today. I hope she is playing with all of your beautiful babies.

Wishing you well always...

Diana

Hi Charles and sweet, precious fur kids, thanks for stopping by, and as always, your very kind post. So glad to hear things are going well. We are doing good too. I was especially delighted this weekend when our city opened a brand new dog park, about a mile from home, which makes it really convenient to bring Juji and have her play with all the dogs. She's had a great time so far - at least it gets some of her energy out... LOL!!! Trying to stay cool as the temperatures are supposed to be getting into the upper 90's by the end of the week... ugh!! Hope you have a great rest of the week. Take care and sending hugs to all.

Hello Charles

Your son Sammy is absolutely gorgeous. You've created the most beautiful memorial here for him. I cried so much reading it. I'm so glad you rescued each other and found such love.  Thank you for being so kind to stop by to vist Leya today on her 1st Angelversary. It means a lot to me to know that others care about us.

Diana

Good Morning Charles, Sammy,Gabbyt, Bob m, Cupcake and Xander. I am up bright and early this morning so am sending you a cup of fresh hot coffee and a variety of granny's homemade cookies. There is never a shortage of cookies here. Ha-Ha.

It looks like we will get some much needed rain today. I have had to run the sprinkler and water the lawn at home and at the shelter for the past week so the rain would certainly be welcome.

Have a great day,

Sending hugs all around.

08-16-2011 10:13 PM -- By: Carole and Shabba Lou,  From: Sunny San Diego

Hello Charles, Sammy, Gabby , Bob M, Xander and Cupcake, Thank you for stopping by and visiting my babies so many times. I've had a lot happen both financially and physically. I am okay now, but it was sure a tough road. I haven't been on Critters for so very long. I know my precious kids feel my love every day, and they know they are tucked away in my heart and soul forever.

Now, my little 17 year old baby Princess is not doing well. She's had a great life, and I will be right by her side (just like she has mine) until her last breath. She's doing better today, but we do not know how much longer we have together. I know Ebony, Shabba Lou, Maggie Mae, Buster and Seville are waiting and will greet them when it is her time. They and all their friends will take good care of my little angel.

Gosh, Xander and Cupcake are gorgeous...actually, beyond gorgeous. What beautoful kids Charles. I commend you for loving them like you do. Pitbulls rock!

Please know that I think of all my wonderful friends always, and now that I'm feeling better and have a new job where I do not have to work 12 hours per day seven days a week, I can start to live again.

Thank you again...so very much...for caring and leaving messsages on my kid's tributes. Many blessing and hugs sent your way. It was great hearing from you. Proud mamma, Carole.

08-15-2011 9:19 PM -- By: Lauvern,  From:

Hi Charles, Sammy, Gabby, Bob m, and of course Cupcake and Xander. Thankyou for coffee this morning. Much appreciated!!! I have another week of long hours ahead of me but well worth the time."smile". Yes I imagine sweet Cupcake would have been thinking of Bob M when she saw that kitty.

Talk about weeds. After a good rain fall, I don't know where they all came from but they sure came up in my rock gardens at home. Thank goodness I have a sweet lady next door who looks after my flowers, etc. as she loves doing that and certainly helps me out as I could never find the time to do that as of late. She lost two of her kitties who were 17 and 18 years old last year and has now adopted two kittens from the shelter. They helped fill the void she was feeling after losing her two after having them for so long.

The two new kids are doing great and of course Samantha is their baby sitter. Ha-Ha. I have not heard anything from anyone about them so I guess they will be going up for adoption soon. I have had a nice couple wanting to adopt the two of them together but I had to wait and see if anyone was going to claim them. I will give it another week or so and call them to see if they are still interested. If they are we will begin obedience classes with them before I will adopt them out. So far the obedience classes are making a difference as I have not had any kids come back with the lame excuse from the adopted parents of telling me they can;t keep them because they won't listen. Now all that are wanting to adopt have to agree to taking obedience classes with the dog that they want. So far ,so good. All is working out.

Sending hugs all around.

Lauvern and all at Luke's shelter.

P/S.. Doris, Lawrence and Kim say "Hello".

Dear Charles, Sammy, Gabby, Bob M, Cupcake and Xander,

Thank you for stopping in. After our brief vacation my husband and I had a grueling 3 days of hard work (mostly physical) and now...can breathe a sigh of relief. Unfortunately I am not in the best of condition and I could not leave it all for my husband since it was my business we were working on. I think we need that vacation again!

Stacy's work is amazing and I cannot believe how quickly she works. I loved watching Sammy come to life again and anxiously await each new picture of Princess.

Like you, I think of my Princess every day. I am not sure what your situation was but Princess was definitely responsible for keeping me on earth as well. perhaps a topic of discussion should we ever meet!

I hope to get more infomation to you about dog food this week or next. Did you have a chance to look over what I sent? How is Cupcake doing?

Thank you (Princess and Sammy too) for your continuing friendship.
