MY FOREVER PET

There's something missing in my home,

I feel it day and night,

I know it will take time and strength

before things feel quite right.

But just for now, I need to mourn,

My heart -- it needs to mend.

Though some may say, "It's just a pet,"

I know I've lost a friend.

You've brought such laughter to my home,

and richness to my days.

A constant friend through joy or loss

with gentle, loving ways.

Companion, friend, and confidante,

A friend I won't forget.

You'll live forever in my heart,

My sweet, forever pet.

HoWdY Puck Llewis and Lisa. We're sorry that we don't get around as much as we used to. That by no means affects the fact that we constantly think of our friends. That would certainly include you two. Dollie keeps tugging at my sleeve. She's shy and wants me to see if Puck Llewis could come by her cubby tonight for a popcorn, candy apple, video, PJ party? She just adores you Puck. So does her daddy. Hugs, hugs, and more hugs to you both. Dollie and daddy - ;)

Mommy,

Please don't cry for me,
I'm where I need to be.
The Angels brought me here,
And they're always near.
You gave me all your love,
And I brought it up above.
I feel it everyday,
I'm not that far away.
Please don't cry those tears,
Or waste away your years.
God has work for you,
There's something you must do.
God's message will be clear,
When the time is near.
Just hold me in your heart,
We'll never be apart.
Remember Jesus loves me,
He gave his life to set me free.
Because Jesus has risen,
I see him each day in heaven.
They love me like you do, Mommy,
And they take good care of me.
So don't worry, and don't be late,
I'll be waiting at heaven's gate.

           &nbs p;            Love always,
           &nbs p;           &n bsp;     puck

YOU WERE HERE

As I sit in those moments of quiet,
When sadness invades me,
I know that yesterday,
You were here.

Now you are away from us,
Not knowing your future,
Or when you'll come home, but yesterday,
You were here.

It has now been a week,
A week since you last were in the house,
An entire week since we carried you away,
To the place where we did not know your future,
But just last week,
You were here.

Another day passes;
a week ago, you were still with us,
In daily reports from the clinic,
They did not know your future,
But we could still hope, and,
You were here.

More days pass,;
A week ago you left us,
Your head cradled in our hands,
Your spirit gracefully moving upward,
But for a few hours of that day,
You were here.

Sadness invades again,
As I know that once those hours pass,
I can no longer look back,
Over the span of a familiar week's time,
To find that comforting point when,
You were here.

More time will pass;
Sadness will not so much invade as menace,
And I will mark the days,
Saying things like,
"last month, last summer, last Halloween, last year,"
You were here.

I dread that day,
One year from now,
That first marking of the time,
That your body was no longer with us;
Though we will never forget you,
Your tangible memory fades,
The feel of your fur, your head, your back, your weight against us,
The smell and sounds of you when,
You were here.

The emptiness is beginning to fade,
To change into another reality,
One with you still playing a part,
But a role of ethereal presence rather than physical comfort we crave;
Your memory, your spirit, your essence and counsel,
Dwell with us, but this feeling is not the same as when,
You were here.

Dearest Family, I'm sorry that I haven't been here lately. We're having a family problem that has overwhelmed us. My SIL who served two tours in Iraq is back with a very bad episode of PTSD. It is tearing the family apart as he is not receiving the help he needs from the army. Please keep us in your thoughts and forgive me for not being here as often as I would like to be. Pat

People keep saying “he was just a dog”.

He was the one who got up with me every morning, no matter how early, to help me greet the morning.

He was the one who stood guard over our home, our family and the loneliness of my days.

He was the one who acted as the best alarm system around, letting us know when someone or something was approaching outside the door.

He was the one who slept at the door to the bedrooms, to make certain everyone was safe.

.

He didn’t rest until everyone was home safe and sound.

he was the explorer who wandered through the bushes in the yard, hunting for feathers or the scent of the woodland creatures that might happen by.

He was the guardian who would chase away those woodland creatures lest they harm one of us.

He was the one who came to lie on my feet or close to my chair at my desk, sensing the times when I was in pain either emotional or physical.

He was the one who looked at me with sparkling, happy eyes, a happy smile, a wagging tail, who wanted nothing from me except a kind word and a soft stroke of his head.

He was the one who never asked for anything from anyone except to just be near.

He was the one who cleaned up the crumbs  or lived for that scrap of leftover supper.

He was the one who staved off the loneliness, the fear, the emptiness of a house .

He was the one whose only fear was the rolling thunder of a storm and who never wanted me to know she was afraid, but who would sit close until the storm was past, hoping for a reassuring pat or soft word.

He was the one who greeted me at the door when I returned from an errand, with a body language that let me know he was happy I was home, happy to be with me again, proud that she had done her job of guarding our home while I was gone.

He was the one who lived with her aging pain, not wanting to let go for fear of leaving me alone, leaving her job as my protector, my companion, my best friend.

He was the one who took one last look into my eyes as her's grew dim, looking to make sure I was okay as his life slipped away, worried that she was leaving me alone.

He was the one whose soft hair I stroked and softly whispered to that he was going home, that it was okay to let go, that I loved him enough to send her home to God to wait for me at the Rainbow Bridge.

He was the one whose grave  or ashes are  close by so that he will always be near to the home and the people he loved so unconditionally and protected with such loyalty.

People say “he was only just a dog”.

To those I say, look closer and see the truth of who and what he truly was

Nobody can fully understand the meaning of love unless
he's owned a dog. A dog can show you more honest
affection with a flick of his tail than a man can
gather through a lifetime of handshakes."

Fly away my angel,
Spread your wings and fly;
Take the beauty of your soul,
And share it with the sky.

Take the warmth within your heart,
And put the sun to shame;
The glow of summer's sunlight.
Will never be the same.

Take the strength within your soul,
From your heart, the tenderness there;
Behold the majesty of the sky,
Its beauty does not compare.

Take the splendor of the stars,
That twinkles in the sky;
It fades in the matchless sparkle,
Of the beauty there in your eyes.

Fly away my Angel,
For I have set you free;
I will wait here patiently,
Until you fly back to me.
