I have decided to start a page with things I remember about Copper. Looking back from this amount of time we really see how very smart these Furry Kids were. Copper hated to take most pills and so I tried tricking her in several ways, putting them in cheese or Liver sausage, hiding them anyway I could until after just a few times she caught on to what was happening and would refuse to take them or eat the food and spit out the pill which was totally cleaned off. Finally I would make myself a sandwich and as usual she would be eyeing it and licking her mouth and begging. I would tell her "Last bite...You can have the last bite" and then I would hide her pill in that spot. Go into the living room and get comfortable and she would be right there with eyes watching every bite...Finally I would say "Is this one yours??" and she would wag her tail yes and I would give it to here and down it went without even chewing it. She never caught on to that deception by mom....Are you hearing this now Copper and saying "Oh man...just wait till I see Mom again" |

C0opper is laying beside all the "Fluff" from a stuffed animal...I would get her animals from garage sales and she would love to pull the legs of of them and scatter the "Fluff" It would look like it had snowed just on our yard...She was so proud of herself when she got the job done. |
| |
Doggy Kisses THE VERY BEST!!!! Copper was a very affectionate girl....always sneaking in a kiss whenever she could....She was a "Hit and Run Kisser" Brannt loved them and let her go on and on as long as she wanted too...Of course his face always tasted soooooooo good...the traces of the latest snack always lingered till Copper could catch up to him. |
| |
MIlk Bone Bandit She LOVED the big Milk bones and would "Ask" for them and touch the box with her paw if we "Played Dumb" Some times she would even get them out herself and go lay behind the chair to eat it, or go to the door to take it outside...here she finally came back into the room and looked like "Helloooooo isn't anyone going to come open the door for me??" Sometimes she would just stock pile them in a pile in the front yard and want right back in. other times she would enjoy it and still others she would bury it in the flower bed. those times she would have a little mound of dirt on the end of her nose. |

Happy Girl Every day for the last 9 months of her life, I cut up 1/2 of an Arby's Roast Beef every morning and every nite and put it with her dog food....She LOVED it and one morning I was out of them and she looked in her dish and then at me and back at her dish. I knew what she was saying...I said "What" and she bumped the fridge door with her nose..."I said "Oh, you want some Roast Beef???" and she wagged her tail "Yes" I told her "I'm sorry Copper, I'm out of them, I'll go get some as soon as they open" She stared at me like "You have got to be kidding" then FINALLY ate her plain food. I bet those kids at Arby's wonder what happened to that crazy woman who would come and get 30 or more Roast Beefs at a time. I would get the 5 for $5.95 coupons from all my friends and neighbors. I will never see a Roast Beef Sand without smiling about that "You have got to be kidding" moment |

You can tell a dog any old silly thing and he will look at you and say "Why, your right...I never would have thought of that" This is one of my favorite photos of Copper and our Grandson having a private conversation...How very special to have this photo. |

A new LO I made for a Challenge on one of my Scrapbook sites...I miss you Copper Top. You were such a fun kid at this time of your life...so interested in everything...The photographer was making sounds like a bird and you were thinking "What a STRANGE lady that is!!!" I am sure. Love you girl!! |
| |
LO # two for the Challenge.... She was always begging for "People food" but then why not??? She thought she was a human too..Never grabed anything tho and took it oh so gently when it was offered. |
| |
These photos were taken when we went to Bismarck to the Vet..we had a wonderful time. She loved going through the drive thu at McDonalds and getting cheeseburgers and a shake... "Remember the LITTLE things in life for one day you will look back and realize they were the BIG things" |
| |
Copper was a very elegant Lady....as I say in my journaling she did not always seem like a lady. Most people said "he" or "him" when they talked about her...she was after all into playing basketball or chasing the Garbage men or squirrels. As she got older tho she was so Elegant...I hope I look as good as she when I am 93...It was fun to make a LO in pink and make her look feminine...which she was. Love you Copper! |

This page was done with memories of Copper's love of snow. She could hardly wait to get outside when she found it had been snowing and would scoop it up and eat it. She always had a little mound of snow on her nose. These are fun photos of you enjoying your good old ND winter weather. |
| |
Here is this weeks LO for you Copper Girl...This was one of your favorite places to be...You LOVED being with all the kids and really thought you were one of them. These photos show how happy you were and what a wonderful life you had...These made me smile today Sweetheart! I miss you...love mom |
| |
This is the latest LO for Copper's album....I love these photos of her so much. She loved to be out in the front yard and spent most of her time there...watching everyone go by and wagging her tail in greeting to them. Often walking them from one driveway to the next. She loved all the attention she got from everyone she came in contact with. Hugs Copper Top....all I have to do is close my eyes and I see you there. |
| |
This is one of Copper's best friends...Kim always stayed with her when we had to go out of town. She took such good care of her. At the end she liked to be outside all the time and I know there were times when Kim slept on the couch and left the inside door open so she could lay on her comforter on the step as long as she wanted to. She misses her so much too. Copper "Sent" her a Cookie Bouquet to thank her for babysitting and Kim brought one of the cookies over to share with her here.
Such special wonderful memories...........Love you Copper Top....Mom |
| |
This is one of my VERY favorite photos of Copper...She and our grandson sat out there at the street for a long time having a long talk...would LOVE to know what was said..... |
| |
Copper LOVED to have her picture taken....Could just imagine her saying Cheese...she would stop what she was doing and look at me when she saw the camera. |
| |
Copper went totally crazy when she would hear the sound of the air being let out of a Hot Air Balloon. She would race back and forth between the front and back yard barking wildly, and bouncing along just frantic. I always wondered what she thought it was....She would act like that if she saw a kite in the air too. I love the photo of her racing around the corner about 50MPH. She has a T-shirt on because she had had surgery and it was to keep her from scratching the incision.... |
| |
Our furry kids are such wonderful teachers....I truly believe that that is their purpose here on this earth.........one of their most important lessions is Patience...They are so patient and wait without complaining for most everything they want. I try to keep her example in mind when I am stuck in traffic or behind someone in the checkout line digging for that last 3 cents....I think of Copper and smile and say to myself "You did good Copper Girl" |
| |
Here are several examples of Copper showing just how to be patient....My favorite is the one of her sitting out on the sidewalk waiting for the Daycare kids to get out of school. Love you Copper |

These are some very special Things I have recieved after we lost Copper. the Poem photo I recieved from a very special new friend from Critters.com I LOVE the poem and it has brought so much comfort. It Reads---Farewell, my family. Yet not farewell. Where I go, You too shall dwell....I am gone befor your face. A moments time, a little space. When you come, where I have stepped, You will wonder why you wept.
The Charcoal drawing I recieved from my sister and nieces....It looks like she is looking right at you no matter where you stand.
The Angel is very special...it reads-----
Every Creature of God is good
1 Tim 4:4
Bless you my
Faithful Friend,

Copper and Cali, our little street Kitty....Cali loved Copper and always found a way to lay by her if she could...I imagine she is wondering why Copper got to be outside and she didn't. |
| |
When we found out that Copper had Bone Cancer we really spoiled her...even more than befor. She loved her big milk bones and would get in the box and get them herself if we didn't notice she was "asking" She would want to take them out and would either eat them, stash them in a pile in the front yard or bury them. Sometimes she would come in with a little mound of dirt on her nose.
Every night her dad would give her half a dozin M&M's. She would chew each one 5 or 6 times. She would swallow a piece of steak whole, but chew each M&M.
Every day for 9months I would give her half an Arby's Roast Beef sand cut up with her dog food. I would get coupons from all the neighbors and friends and get the 5for$5.95...35 or 40 at a time. I bet those kids at Arby's wonder what happened to that crazy lady who bought so many Roast Beef Sand.
One morning I was out and Copper looked at her dog food like "What's going on" She bumped the fridg with her nose...I said "What???" and she just stared at me and bumped it again. I asked "Do you want your Beef Sand??" and she wagged her tail which was yes in Copper Speak. No wonder she was "FLUFFY"

This makes me think of our conversations....you understood totally what I was saying to you .... I could see it in your eyes |
| |
You loved the snow....I do hope you have some to play in now with all of your new friends. Here you are barking at me to come out and throw snowballs for you to catch....a wonderful memeory...Love you, Mom |
| |
Peeping Tom Copper would always peek between the boards in the fence at our neighbor when he was working in the back yard....She would stand very quietly and watch him. I told him "If you ever have the feeling you are being watched, it is not me doing it" |
| |
Playtime Playtime with Melissa.....Copper was about a year old here.
|
| |
Love is in the Air Copper loved to lay outside and just enjoy her surroundings...here she was sniffing the air (a neighbor was grilling I do believe LOL) |
| |
Squeaky Clean Copper LOVED to take a shower...We had a shower head that you could hold and she loved the warm water on her tummy. One day Jim took her for a walk and it had been raining. When they got back she was just dripping muddy water. I looked at her and said "Oh Copper, I think" that is all I said and she turned right around and went around the corner and down the stairs ... When I got down stairs she was standing in the shower. Who says dogs can't "think" We know better. |

Look in My Eyes I love this Quote....It is so true.
Look into my eyes and deny it ... No Human could ever love you as much as I do. |

Sun Bathing These photos were taken the day after Copper came to be a part of our family. I love how comfy she looks and how relaxed and at home she is already. this was in May of 1994 She was sound asleep in the sunshine in the back yard. I like to think of her doing this now at the Rainbow Bridge. |
| |
Once Upon a Dream Copper always seemed to have such good dreams....she would be running and yelping and wagging her tail in the way she always did when she saw someone she loved alot.
|
| |
Brave Girl Copper blew out her knee....Dr T said it was just like a human Football injury...and she had to have surgery. It was a very long recovery during which she could not do anything...had to be on a very short leash for 6 weeks. I had to put her in the back of the house on Garbage day as she got so nuts when she say the truck coming. The Garbage man even came to the door and asked were she was and if she was ok as they had missed her running to yell at them. |
| |
These photos were taken the day Jeff brought her home to us.....What a sweetheart she was. I remember he made a bed for her in the garage against my wishes and that lasted about an hour and I went out and got the poor baby and brought her in to sleep with me on the sofa. No more crying...she licked my face and snuggled in and was instantly sound asleep. From that day on she was my girl. Jeff could not take her back to college as he could not find an apt that would allow pets............not that I would have let him take her anyway. We were soul mates. |

A Walk I’m sure you are wondering why this photo is in
Copper’s album—with no Copper in it.
Copper and I walked many miles around this block. I
really wish I had a photo of her, but I can see her
furry butt ahead of me as if she were right here in
front of me now.
She didn’t need a leash. Would just go on ahead and
do her sniffing and exploring.
She would go 3/4 of the way up the street and then
stop to see where I was–(which was probably a long
way behind with my arthritic knee.) She would sit down
and wait for me. If I told her she could go on she would
go as far as the corner and "Ask" which way. I would
point and she would turn the corner and continue. If I
said "We’re crossing–wait for me" She would.
One day a man came along and said" I have
been watching your dog...UNBELIEVABLE..She
is amazing. A lot smarter than a lot of humans I know.
A wonderful memory of Copper Top |
