Bailey, Princess, Me and Ma

The background I chose for this page is a bit deceiving since our trips to the beach were rarely sunny (on purpose.) Shortly after we moved to Washington, I happened to see an ad for a beach resort that allowed dogs. Since Princess loved the beach so much, we decided to give it a try. In the off season, there was also a discount on the price which was all the better. Fewer people, cheaper, who could ask for more. Our wedding anniversary is on or near President's day so we decided that would be a good time to go. So we all piled into our truck and drove several hours to the beach. The first time we stayed we were on an upper floor. We subsequently learned to reserve our preferred spot (corner room, bottom floor~right on the beach, second building) a year in advance. Yep, the rooms are almost always sold out on weekends, even in winter and most of these are occupied by people and their dogs. We would stay over a few days during the week when we had the place mostly to ourselves too. It was fantastic. For 8 or more years (I can't remember exactly) we took Princess, added Marquisea, then Bailey on their own annual vacation. Even if it was raining we had a wonderful time. Once there was a big storm that came through and we had no electricity for most our stay. It was a terrific adventure. The rooms all have kitchens and woodstoves so they are homey. Not the Ritz but if I couldn't have my girls with me it wouldn't have mattered. Long walks on the beach, snuggling by the fire in our room, no TV or phones to interrupt our time together...it was a joy. Our reservation was made for 2008 but we will not be going this year. I can't face being there without Princess and the Ma dog. We took Bailey on a short stay to a different place in January but I am not sure I can ever go back to Princess's place. If you have not taken your furbaby on their own vacation, I highly recommend it for both of you!
