The Golden Angel

In loving memory of our Poppy who we love so much. Poppy will be greatly missed and be in our hearts forever. You left your footprints on our hearts.

10 weeks old

Poppy was from a place called Bunny Land. She was a valentines present for me back in 1996. I was pregnant with our first child and everyone thought we were mad to get a puppy when I was having a baby. They could not have been more wrong. Poppy was fantastic when the baby arrived and never ever got jealous she was so laid back and gentle. When Poppy was 12 months old we discovered that she was born with severe hip problems and the vet told us it would be better to put her to sleep. We decided to get a second opinion and I am so glad we did. A wonderful dog who was so kind and patient and just got on with her life. I can't put into words how lovely she was and what she meant to us. Like a big soft cudderly bear that just made us smile when she wagged her tail. She knew when I was down and would sit next to me to cheer me up. Always there to give out love. She had to be on medication most of her life but she coped so well with it until September 2007 it was clear she could not hardly walk anymmore and we had to make the kindest decision to have her put to sleep. It was heartbreaking but she deserved to go to heaven so she could run again. She will remain in our hearts and I know she's with us in spirit.

My best friend

You never growled at us. You were great with the children. You were always so pleased to see us. Your tail never stopped wagging even when you found it so hard to walk. You were an angel and we will miss you so much. Love Mummy, Daddy, Rebecca and Ellie x x x

In the garden 6 months old

First night at home

I Stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep. I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "it's me, I haven't left you, I'm fine, I'm here." I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me. I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more. I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care. I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there. I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your keys. I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me." You looked tired, and sank into the chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there. It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday. To say to you with certainty, " I never went away." You sat there very quietly, then smile, I think you knew... in the stillness of that evening, I was close to you. The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say "goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning." And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side. I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.....

Mum I don't need glasses!

This picture was taken when we first got her. She was so laid back and would have let me push her in a pram if I wanted!

Before I gained the weight!

Bless her, she was quite slim once but piled the weight on! She loved to sit underneath Rebecca's high chair as ther was always food to grab!
