She was three hours old

After I helped in her birth

When we got back to my house

It was Halloween instead of scary movies

I opted on my favorite movie

Gone With the Wind

I turned my porch light out

Left candy on the patio with a note saying

"Please do not ring bell or make racket..baby asleep"

I knew this little kitten could not hear yet but I knew she could feel vibrations

It seemed a soothing choice

I made the formula put it into a kitten bottle

Fed her.

This little, tiny black and white kitten won me over.

Curled in the palm of my hand.

I was thinking Jules what have you gotten yourself into?

Then this little creature stirred and mewed.

That's when I knew...

Love.

I was sweating so hard from being nervous

I was so afraid I was not good enough for this little kitten.

I was all she had from the start. Now here we were

alone together. As Gone With the Wind began I craddled her against me.

Then the scene with Prissy came on ".We got to have a doctor. I don't know nothing bout birthing babies." All I could think of was "tell me about it" as I looked down upon this sleeping kitten.

When Clark Gable entered the ball scene in his black tails and white tie

I looked down and said" that's it your name Butler"

She mewed once then back asleep

So I put Tara's Theme from Gone With the Wind on this page

The only living soul I loved. The only living soul that loved me started with this song .A love story that can match Gone With the Wind anytime. Scarlett can have her Rhett...I had my Butler.

Pumpkin Incident

Butler was just walking what you could call walking.

I had a pumpkin I was hired to carve for a

Thanksgiving party

I hollowed it left it on the floor

Went to answer the phone

I then went to check on Butler

No Butler in her box by the pumpkin

I went crazy in tears

I noticed that this pumpkin was wobbling

I looked inside it...

There was Butler....content with the pulp all over her.

So everytime from then on I covered up pumpkins or she'd climb in.

Weaning

Oh the joy

Butler did not want to be weaned

She grab ahold of the bottle by herself and grumble

"How about kitten food?" Mom ask

The look could freeze water from Butler.

She'd climb my leg and glare at me.

With her still attached to my leg, I'de go get her bottle.

All was right with the world again.

Try again.

Nope.

So I bought some Stage 2 baby food.

That did the trick.

She had more on her than in her but it worked.

Until she left I'de still as a treat give her baby food.

She never forgot that "pop" sound the lid makes upon opening and come running.

Mail

Butler never liked people

But the 2 things in her life she never tolerated were

the vacuum and the mailman

She'd hear his keys clank coming up the driveway

She'd run to the front screen door

The mailbox is on the house by the door

She'd wait, wait, wait

As soon as he flipped up the lid?

She'd growl, hiss and attached herself to the screendoor

Poor man ....

I was doing lawn work she was outside on the patio watching me

1st time she'd been out to watch me was in December she was walking well now.

Here he came up the drive.

Butler lept off the patio and tore after him

He was in the street, she at the end of the driveway arching, all puffed out.

That was the last time she was allowed with me when I knew he was coming.

This went on until she passed. I'm shocked my postage rates did not go up on an hourly basis.

Screen Door

I was tuning my guitar and Butler was at the front screen door

sunning in the entry way. Her tail use to hang outside from a gap in the screen frame.

People see this black tail hanging out as they come over.

I heard Butler hissing like I never had then a growl like never before.

I ran as fast as I could heart in my throat. "Butler, Im coming"

I saw Butler being pulled backwards through the gap by her tail by the neighbors cat.

I got on the floor grabbed Butler and my other hand I hit the screendoor the cat let go.

Tears in my eyes I checked over Butler. Put her in the truck off to the vets. She was ok.

I got home. Banged on the neighbors door. Told them off. "No one messes with Butler" and other choice words.
