something amazing happened over night at the bridge.....the sun dawned oh so warm and bright...but as the kids were wiping the sleep out of there eyes...they woke up to a white world....
could it be?
SNOW!
its so warm and sunny but snow???
as the kids shuffle out with sleep in there eyes...they look around at the pure beauty that surrounds them....
they all get to lunettas and christians...
a sign at lunettas billboard is posted ...
"Christmas in August at the Bridge!!!"
the large christmas tree that luna and buddy and simon bagley and puck and dozer and dale had put up sometime during the night right outside the patio is decorated in lights with gifts from maddies botique...hula skirts and hawaiian bloomers and the leis made of tropical flowers - all hand made by greta, dusty, minnie, hammy, angel, dusty, patch, willow, inky....
...... in the winter wonderland of Rainbow Bridge....amongst tropical flowers and plants and palm trees....lunettas patio all decorated with bright lights...that extend as far as the kids could see.......
they hear music playing from the island......

its grand opening day of the Island.....which is decorated in millions of lights....with light snow falling but the warm tropical breezes that flow thru rainbow bridge...was a sight to behold.....
christian had breakfast on the patio at lunettas...with blueberry pancakes...fish omelets for the kitties, bacon, potatoes..hot cocoa, orange juice..the works...and even whipped cream for the potatoes...chicquitas version of sweet potatoes.....christian made his version of kibble for the hamsters, gerbals, birds, ferretts and the like....
the music continuing from the island...

christian was busy feeding everyone at the bridge....kids were trying on thier gifts..playing in the warm snow....and dancing to the music of the island....
una brings luke some breakfast as luke awaits each bridge kid to step in paint to mark the little bridge that leads to the island.......
dollie with help of maddie and luna loo and buddy....get busy with the day......the barkery smells and luna and buddy with help from dale get the BBQ ready....
they all wonder where puck is??
as the music plays....
the celebration continues.......

puck and luna step in the paint and make thier way across the bridge to the island...as gloria estefans song plays...puck shows luna ....
the little treehouses that each child can decorate...bins of fuzzy pillows are below with rugs and candles and wall hangings...each can pick thier own little hut...a dock seperates the tree houses and tied up to the dock in front of the treehouses... little sunfish sailboats pucks is there that he rcvd as a gift from luna (along with the island) and little tiny dingys for hammy and the like that will never tip....each is a different colour...pink, yellow, checkered like nascar.and the colours go on and on...some have canadian flags some british and irish clover leafs....
..it truly is an island retreat......
thousands of paw prints adorn the bridge that crosses the river....some big some small and some super tiny. some kids that puck has not yet met are touring the island....tropical flowers covered with the now melting snow.......growing right next to the long dock .freezia flows thru air.....birds and gulls are playing in the water....
decorate your little huts and take the sailboats for a spin....in the blue green waters....the sun is high in the sky....the clouds that appear take shape.....kids still in hula skirts and leis that are drinking little coconut and mango tropical drinks are partying and having fun......
puck leaves the island to go check on something for later....he meets una and together they go check on the rolling fields of Rainbow Bridge.......
music fills the air .....as puck can here the joyous sounds of noise......
he wipes a tear....and
smiles.......

with much of the festivities of the day winding down....everyone shuffles in giddy to lunettas..the 'PUPS-CAL NOT- SO - FLATTS BAND' on stage....puck (vocals), simon bagley (drums), wadsworth (acoustic guitar) and buddy (electric guitar) get the band up and going by playing everything from John Denver, the Dixie Chicks, Fergi (fergi butt singing), Rod Stewart, Knarles Bark-lee, Baha Men .. 'who let the dogs out' and George Thorogoods..Bad to the Bone, to Freddy Fenders Meowy-y Days and Meow-y Nights.. to the Pups cal not - so - Flatts band redition of 'Me and My Gang'..and of course 'Bob Cat Poindexters' version of HOT HOT HOT...Bob Dylan.....so much more.....
some kids are playing some singing more are dancing but all are eating....
BBQ is the word of the day.....after decorating thier tree huts and/or houses with the decorations from fuzzy pillows, to hammocks, to cots, everyone hungry...
...food is woneerous.....
on the microphone....puck says if i leave anyone out i do apologize ...too many friends..as some friends puck recognizes and some not...
but all miss thier families...

. as day turns to night, the lanterns gleam with a warm glow ... just as the hearts of our little ones are all a glow, bursting with happiness ...they tell stories, some walk along the flower scented path, or along the shore, all are thinking of how truly blessed they each are ...
Luna, Greta, Dollie Gurl, Kia, Patch, Minnie, Ebony, Little Bit and Ginger head to the kitchen, inside Blossom and Daisy are preparing the cake with candles and Happy is folding the napkins and Dollie is putting the finishing touches on the cake ... the main dining hall lights dim as the cake is wheeled out, IT'S HUGE and very elaborate with amazing decorations, running along the side of the cake are little paw prints ... all the way to the top ... and on top is a picture of Puck and Miss Lisa inside a big heart...he smiles, and says, "totally paw some"! As he stares at the candles on by one which were lit with the help of Angel, Patches and Taffy ... from a distance it looks as if they are climbing a snow covered mountain ... and as the reach the top there is one candle.... and when it is lit the cake is all a G-L-O-W-S!!! Ahhhhh, it's amazing, for this candle holds all the thoughts and wishes for our special angel boy Puck. Each child gathers with smiles on their faces and excitement in their breath, and as Puck takes a step forward he closes his eyes and makes a wish ... You see when Puck celebrates a monthly angel day Luna built him an island and said, "No man is on to him self an island, but her gift to him was a tiny blue box with white tissue paper, inside she said was a wish! She said we each have a wish to make. As he blows out the candles in the distance you can see all the lights a glow at the bridge from the patio at Lunetta's to the lamps on the island, the air is crisp and clean as the smell of the freshly fallen snow...
As each little one takes a taste of the cake all you can hear is humm, ohhh, yummy, the excitement can be heard when they take their first bite. The angels take care f the clean up and all the children flood to the beach, you see upon each of the sun fishes that are docked at the shore of the island are little birds flocked in different colors, as the moon starts to glow ... the birds are released; Blue ones, red ones, yellow, orange, and even PURPLE!!! Luna winks at Minnie, as they fly and soar through the heavens some of their feathers flutter freely flowing in air ... Luna bursts out in laughter... hahaha, " that's why my mom found a fancy purple feather tonight while walking the girls" ... "right on the floor where she couldn't miss it ... and SHE DID take notice. You see Miss Lisa told us a story about Puck gathering feathers and shared stories of the special ones she found ... now when ever I see a feather laying on the floor ... my thoughts immediately go to our little friend Puck! Whose love and laughter grace these pages of critters and the hearts of all who have the pleasure of knowing him?
Each one settles down among all the comfortable pillows, some staring at the stars, some humming tunes from the music that was playing, but all remembering how blessed we are to have shared such a special love with our special someone ... now all cozy and wrapped up in fuzzy blankets, soft pillows ... napping on clouds, in tiki huts or tree houses, some just resting in hammocks along the beach ... but all are HAPPY for they found in their hearts what most people search for in a lifetime and few ever find ...
TRUE LOVE!!! ...
"Ours".
As Luna rests her head upon a big soft pillow looking at the stars she says a silent prayer to all the parents of her friends that they know they are never alone and we will be with them always. As she looks up she sees a shooting star and makes a wish ... and in her heart were thoughts of you, Good Night!!!
