In memory of Buddy, my sweet little Terripoo with the Bright Brown Eyes!

Buddy came into my life in June of 1993.  I had just moved back to my hometown after living away for 10 years.  The Terripoo I sometimes watched had become sick and needed to be put down.  I missed him so much I decided to get a dog of my own.  Off I went to "Fish Fish & Fish"(the local pet shop), to see if they had any puppies for sale.  There were no dogs at all, so I asked  the owner of the store if she could find me a Terripoo.  The next morning my phone rang.  A short time later I was off to the pet shop to see if I wanted the little pup she had found.  There was no doubt in my mind that I'd be coming home with a dog, and I was right.  As soon as I saw him he had my heart.  She didn't know his exact birthdate and when I took him to the vet the next day to get checked, he said he was born sometime the beginning of March, so I picked March 5th as his birthday. At that time I was told he had a heart murmur but nobody ever mentioned it again until about a month before he left us.

Buddy went everywhere with me. He loved visiting people and was a very sweet boy.  I worked nights as a computer operator and was alone in the office from 9pm til 5am so there were many times he came to work with me too. It didn't matter to Buddy, he loved dogs and cats alike.  The only time he didn't like another dog was when he was 5 years old and we got a Bichon Frise puppy we named Benji.  He was not happy when we brought that white ball of fur home!  But after about a week I noticed he would let the puppy sleep on his back and it wasn't long before they became the best of friends.    He loved to play with his many toys.  His favorite of all time was "Big Kitty", which is a big stuffed tiger he got from my friend Joann.

He was such a good boy.  He didn't bark much and loved to run after his ball with the bell in it.  He spent many hours out in the yard chasing that ball!  And if nobody had time to play with him he'd throw it down the basement steps and run down and get it.  One day he threw it down the steps but couldn't find it.  I searched and searched but couldn't find it either so I got him a new one.  About a year later I found it stuck under one of the radiators down there.  I think he recognized it because that was the one he played with after that.

 "Bright Eyes"

Is it a kind of dream,
Floating out on the tide,
Following the river of death downstream?
Oh, is it a dream?

There's a fog along the horizon,
A strange glow in the sky.
And nobody seems to know where you go.
And what does it mean?
Oh, is it a dream?

Bright eyes,
Burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
How can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.

Is it a kind of shadow,
Reaching into the night,
Wandering over the hills unseen?
Or is it a dream?

There's a high wind in the trees,
A cold sound in the air.
And nobody ever knows when you go.
And where do you start,
Oh, into the dark?

Bright eyes,
Burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
How can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.

Bright eyes,
Burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
How can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.
