TEDDY JACK ALLGOOD

Teddy Jack got his wings this morning around 11:00. He joined his true love, Fayeroe, at The Bridge. His family will miss him  very much.

I named TeddyJack after Leon Russell's son. I had worked around Leon and loved his son's name.

All Jack ever wanted was to have a friend. He found one in Fayeroe. He adored her and she was crazy about him. If she couldn't be with me, she wanted to be with Jack. He was always the best behaved of my dogs...other than Tippy. He lived to protect his family. He was always watchful and barked if anything happened that was unusual in our neighborhood. He was crazy about Stella, his niece. She could do anything to him and he smiled at her. He would be so happy when she came to see us. I called Fayeroe, Stella and TeddyJack the "three musketeers"........I love you so much, Wacky Jacky...and will see you again one day.......Mom

Jack was always very proud of his guard skills. He never quit barking to let me know that someone or something was intruding into our spaces.

We had coyotes that came up close to the house during the night and timber wolves that stayed around the big barn. They would yip and howl off and on all night. The first night Jack spent with us he successfully ran the coyotes off. I heard this big deep voice and then a quick fight. The coyotes decided to quit coming to the house. They continued to sing and the wolves continued to howl but they respected Jack enough to stay back in the woods and pastures.

Teddy Jack showed up at the ranch one day in 1999. He joined Tippy, Henrietta, J.J., Eagle Beagle, Boo and Xowie.

RUNNING HORSES

Teddy Jack loved living on the ranch. He never bothered the horses or cows. He was so happy to have a home and to be loved.

TEDDYJACK, STELLA & FAYEROE

Dearest Jack: I miss you so much. I look for you and I listen when the sirens go off. Lita has taken up howling when the church bells ring. I know she is honoring you. She and Clem look for you. We go to the creek every day and it isn't the same. We don't watch you go out into the creek with your "old man" walk and then stand there enjoying it. You never minded winter water because it was from a spring and always very cold.

I know you were SO happy to see Fayeroe. That is my biggest solace that you're with the one you loved more than anyone else. It isn't easy for you to be gone but I know you were so tired and  not feeling well. I can only imagine how good you feel now because you are with Fayedy. I bet she was grinning from ear to ear when she saw you. Her little stubby tail was wagging her entire butt........I'll remember you when the west wind moves among the field of barley.......I love you and miss you, Mom

He no longer has to wait for her. They are together forever.

For months after Fayedy died he always thought she would bounce out of the house to play with him.

Jack with his niece and the love of his life, Fayeroe. He would let Stella do anything she wanted. He never tired of her leading him around or lying on him in the yard.

CLEMENTINE

Clem loved running big circles around him while he guarded his Kong. He knew that if he chased her, she would dash in and grab the Kong. So he barked and barked at her when she came closer and closer to him. He was always smiling so I knew that he enjoyed the game.

Jack came to tolerate Clem. He never  totally opened up to her because he still loved Fayedy.

POKER GAME

If there is a poker game at The Bridge, I know Jack is in it. He would be able to bluff anyone out. In fact, the dog that is second from the right could be Jack. Who knows? Maybe he was sneaking out on Tuesday night to join friends in our neighborhood.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, JACK

February 1, 2011

Dear Wacky Jacky, I miss you so much but I don't miss you as much as Clementine does. She looks for you and always check to see if you are in your house.

Pearlcat is gone. I know you didn't have any love for cats but she was a good neighbor to you. I think she loved you........

Please enjoy your time with Tip, Henri, J.J> and Smut. Remember when we would walk through the pastures to get to the creek so we could swim? You did love your swimming times.

It is very, very cold here tonight...hope you're warm and tucked in. I love you, Jack.......Mom

FAYEROE'S GRAVE

Jack spent a lot of time lying by her grave. He had tipped Lady Madonna and I snapped a pic of her......

FAYE AND LITA, JACK'S GIRLS

Jack arrived at the ranch one spring day. I heard Oscar barking and found him chasing a brown dog that I had never seen. I called Oscar off and the dog came to me. Cowering and shivering. I took him into the yard and Colleen and I fed and watered him. We trimmed all the mats off of him and checked him for ticks.

He was so happy to finally have a family that loved him. He smiled any time we looked at him. He was super disciplined.

One day he and Oscar came up from the pastures and both were very sick. They threw up in the yard and when I looked at it, they had done a very naughty thing. They caught something and got very ill afterwards. They never caught anything else that I knew of.

When Oscar and Eagle Beagle got bitten by the copperheads (5 times), Jack stayed above the fray. He was too smart to run up and smell a snake. Finally I convinced Oscar and Eagle Beagle to "kill"...not "sniff" and I started finding snake "parts" around the yard and the west pasture. Oscar had to have one more fling and at dusk we were in one of the north pastures and he ran to the pond. I yelled but it was too late. I heard him yelp and by the time he got back to me, his face was swollen and I knew a water moccasin had bitten him. Our vet had told me that there really wasn't anything to do but keep them quiet and cool. So we always laid them on the concrete porch and keep cold compresses on their faces. Jack never, ever did anything so crazy!!

JACK AT HOME

There was no sweeter dog than Jack. From the first day at the ranch he minded and was also so polite. The other dogs could be acting like fools and Jack would trot along side us..looking up occasionally to say "can you believe those idiots?".......

COULDN'T YOU LET US IN?

April 18, 2011

Dearest Jack: I've made one trip to the ranch and am going again on Wednesday. Robert is going with me again. We aren't taking the grandchildren this time. They are in school.

I promised you that I would get you back home before you died but I wasn't able to. I am so very, very sorry. You and Fayeroe will always be here in Lockhart, TX. Your spirits are together in heaven but it breaks my heart to not be able to bury you there in our little cemetery with her.

I will miss you at night when the coyotes sing and the wolves howl. I know your spirit will be there taking care of me. I love you, TeddyJack!!!

TEDDY JACK, 1999-2010

Jack was so very handsome. Such beautiful eyes. His eyes reminded me of coyote eyes.

JACK ON A BILLBOARD IN NYC

JACK, THE WOLVES ARE HOWLING AT NIGHT AND THE COYOTES COME VERY CLOSE TO THE HOUSE. I WISH YOU WERE HERE TO KICK BUTT!

I WAS WALKING AROUND THE HOUSE ONE NIGHT AND I HEARD A BIG BARK. I STOPPED SHORT AND THEN I HEARD HOWLING. A WOLF WAS RIGHT AT THE TIMBER LINE. HE/SHE KEPT HOWLING AS HE/SHE TRAVELED TO THE NORTH PASTURE. IT WAS A THRILL. I WISH YOU HAD BEEN HERE WITH ME.

THERE ARE TWO PUPS HERE NOW. SOMEONE DROPPED THEM ON ME ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO. I'M SURE YOU WOULD NOT LIKE THEM. YOU NEVER LIKED HAVING  NEW ADDITIONS TO THE FAMILY.
