In loving memory of our Gus who we love so much. Gus will be greatly missed and be in our hearts forever.

      Beyond The Rainbow

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Dear Gus,

What is heaven like? Do you like it so far? I knew you would! J The first time that I saw you, I instantly fell in love and you were the cutest little pup. Little did we know, you would be driving us crazy and not always behaving like you should but God gave us the patience!

You loved sitting out in the sun for hours, chasing the squirrels, going for long walks along the lakefront and in the woods, which was your happy place!

You loved eating your peanut butter flips and getting the doggy cup from Dairy Queen. I will make sure Jesus gives you all of those things every day.  After the few million toys we got you, you finally found the one that made you smile. Your Lamb, Lamby pie as we called it! Don’t worry; I will make sure Juliette doesn’t eat him.

Speaking of Juliette, I know the two of you didn’t get along very well and you didn’t like us very much for having another dog take over your home, but we wanted to get you a friend that would play with you and keep you company as we went to work every day. Although Juliette was rough with you, I know she likes you and misses you very much. I will miss the doggy kisses the two of you gave each other.

There are so many memories to keep, but I don’t want to hold you up from playing with Jesus and all your doggy friends.

You are now in your forever home where you are young and strong again and have no limitations. We will be sad for a while to come but we will never forget you and you will always be a part of our family.

And, you are welcome to come by anytime to sit in the backyard in the summer time or play in the snow during the winter, and come on walks with us.

It’s true what they say a dog is a man’s best friend; well in this case, a dog is a girl’s best friend.

People say “it’s just a dog” or: why are you so emotional over this” Well, you were and still are a part of the family and that will never change. Losing a pet is hard and people who say these things just don’t understand the bond that a pet and a human share.

I hope you liked your life on earth but I know you will love your life in heaven. We will see you very soon and boy oh boy, I sure can’t wait for that day!

Lots of hugs and kisses

Tribute To A Best Friend

Sunlight streams through window pane
unto a spot on the floor....
then I remember,
it's where you used to lie,
but now you are no more.
Our feet walk down a hall of carpet,
and muted echoes sound....
then I remember,
It's where your paws would joyously abound.
A voice is heard along the road,
and up beyond the hill,
then I remember it can't be yours....
your golden voice is still.
But I'll take that vacant spot of floor
and empty muted hall
and lay them with the absent voice
and unused dish along the wall.
I'll wrap these treasured memorials
in a blanket of my love
and keep them for my best friend
until we meet above.

What a beautiful face!

This picture was taken a few days before he passed. I could never get him to look at the camera with me but this time I got one.

Miss you so much my little pumpkin!
