Tigger and Ginger
June 20 1997 - March 19 2012
My beloved Tigger
In loving memory of our Tigger who we love so much. Tigger will be greatly missed and be in our hearts forever.
I can remember the day you came to us like it was yesterday. It was my birthday and Kelly had gotten you at Twinbrook. That was over 14 years ago. I can't believe you are gone. You were the kindest most gentle dog that I had ever met in my life. You gave pitbulls a bad name. Kelly brought her Dog over and Eddie brought his over and of course Ginger was there and you just sat back in the corner and watched the other dogs play. It took you a little while before you would play with the other dogs. You were pretty much my dog until Ginger died and then you were devoted to Dad and you followed him everywhere. You were very lonely after Ginger died so we got Cici. She laid on top of you all the time but you let her. You never growled or were mean to anyone. When Gee was little he harassed you all the time and you let him. You didn't even run away. Not once did you ever growl at him. If people knew what a gentle dog you were I am sure you would have been adopted long before we got you. I am glad we had you. You were the best friend I ever had. You were always at the door to greet me when I came home. Never jumping on us. You were a runner and you got out of the fence so many times and we had to look for you but we always got you back safely. Lots of times the little kids in the neighborhood would bring you back. I guess you just wanted to go for a walk since Dad used to take you for a walk everyday and then he couldn't anymore. Cici and Scar really miss you. They have hardly eaten since you left. I know you have been in a lot of pain the last six months and we have been helping you up and down the steps and up and down the bed. Last Sunday when you kept falling down, I knew we couldn't let you suffer anymore. It broke all our hearts to have to put you down but we knew we had to. Until we meet again my friend, you and Ginger can play together.
Mom, Dad, Giovanni, and Kathleen and the rest of the family that loved you so much.
My best friend closed his eyes last
night, As his head was in my hand.
The Doctors said he was in pain,
And it was hard for him to stand.
The thoughts that scurried through
my head, As I cradled him in my arms.
Were of his younger, puppy years,
And OH...his many charms.
Today, there was no gentle nudge
With an intense "I love you gaze",
Only a heart thats filled with tears
Remembering our joy filled days.
But an Angel just appeared to me,
And he said, "You should cry no more,
GOD also loves our canine friends,
HE's installed a 'doggy-door"!
I wish someone had given Jesus a dog.
As loyal and loving as mine.
To sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes
And adore Him for being divine.
As our Lord grew to manhood His faithful dog,
Would have followed Him all through the day.
While He preached to the crowds and made the sick well
And knelt in the garden to pray.
It is sad to remember that Christ went away.
To face death alone and apart.
With no tender dog following close behind,
To comfort its Master's Heart.
And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn,
How happy He would have been,
As His dog kissed His hand and barked it's delight,
For The One who died for all men.
Well, the Lord has a dog now, I just sent Him mine,
The old pal so dear to me.
And I smile through my tears on this first day alone,
Knowing they're in eternity.
Day after day, the whole day through,
Wherever my road inclined,
Four feet said, "Wait, I'm coming with you!"
And trotted along behind.
